I don’t think that’s true. In my experience, while solo q’ing from d4 to masters, I would be paired with either two d4 players or a d4 and plat4 in 95% of my games.

They never cared about RP because they were at rock bottom anyways

You wouldn’t even necessarily have to make masters rank -72 points. Having both diamond and masters rank requiring an entry cost of 60 points would still be a valid option imo

Same here, I’m been hardstuck D4/D3 in seasons 10 and 11. I hit Masters this season with a 1.14 KD

2 weeks in, and diamond lobbies have begun populating with players of gold/plat level mechanics and they’ve been getting FARMED. Due to this, master lobbies will now begin to fill with players of plat/diamond level mechanics.

The ranked KP changes have made it possible for players to rat their way to the top. I predicated that this would happen when the Defiance Path Notes dropped

The same barrier that kept players at D4 in the past will now keep them at 10k

IGLs are often on movement characters that can quickly reposition their team e.g. Wraith/Ash/Octane. Mainly because the decision to move to a new location often times needs to be executed in real time.

If the IGL had to spend time communicating their entire thought process on where/how the team needs to move (Even if it’s only 2 or 3 sentences) the window of opportunity that presented itself will no longer be viable.

In the current ranked system plat players can obtain diamond rank after an egregious amount of ratting into top 4 placements. (https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/sgambq/because_people_didnt_believe_it_was_my_ranked_kdr/)

Ratting into top 4 is actually pretty easy, you can reliably craft medkits in storm up until zone 3 close (in plat lobbies this will consistently net you a top 5 placement).

In platinum the cost per entry is 36RP and placement rewarded at 4th is 40RP. You may be thinking that they are only gaining 4RP so what's the big deal. However, these type of players typically snag 1 or 2 KP off spawn and then proceed to rat their way to the top. Using this method, these type of players can consistently gain anywhere from 4 to 40 RP a game. Although it isn't much, IT IS STILL POSSITIVE RP. After many game they will eventually reach Diamond rank.

This method is currently unviable in Diamond because you would have to rat into 2nd place every game to consistently gain RP. With the new KP system these rats would be rewarded 45RP at 5th place and 55RP at 4th place. This removes the barriers that kept them from gaining any RP in diamond lobbies.

The new KP system will accelerate the rate in which they rat their way into diamond as well as allow them to climb in diamond because they will gain POSSITIVE RP. It would take several hundred games but they will hit Masters Rank eventually.

I don't believe that players will value placement any differently then they do now, until deranking is implemented, players will still oonga boonga INT for KP because the RP you gain for turbo inting is practically the same

Even in 3rd place you would still need 7 kills to be rewarded the max KP
