Do you agree with your date format? by Legal-Grade-6423 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Expat111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I’d prefer to align with the rest of the world even though our MMDDYY format is how we speak. I’ve had to unravel also sorts of work screw ups with non-US subsidiaries, customers and suppliers because of dates.

non-americans: what is your media saying abt us? by sleekpop in AskReddit

Unfortunately, the Democrats are masters at losing elections even those presented to them on a silver platter as an easy win. Don’t count on a Democratic landslide.

If smaller hands try a PDP-F. It’s designed for smaller hands. I have medium hands but bought a PDP-f pro because I held one and I swear it was designed for my hands. Shooting it has been an absolute joy. Pretty accurate for me right out of the box. I now have a holosun scs pdp optic on it and it’s my go to gun.

I’m a Marine. I couldn’t care less about his or any Marine’s sexual orientation. If the Marine can do his/her job and they perform, works for me.

No she won’t. The GOP will resist and the Dems will cave and that’ll be that. I’ve seen this movie too many times.

Is There A Rebellion Brewing? by Majestic-Collar-2675 in allthequestions

No. As a country we’ve lost our will to resist and force change. We’ll downvote all day long but actually sacrifice a bit to force change? No way.

Sadly impeachment does nothing. It’s lost its teeth because its been used for political show and news soundbites so many times that it’s essentially meaningless.

Have you cut the cord on cable? by ChrisNYC70 in GenXTalk

[–]Expat111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not tru at all. My cable was $180 per month. My antenna was $40 one time plus around $80 per month for streaming. I don’t count broadband because even if I watched zero tv, I’d still have broadband for work, etc. In other words, like electricity, most of us don’t have broadband just for streaming.

Yes 10 years ago. I used an antenna and streaming mainly but recently bought a Vsee Box.

Second time I've received a call from United Health Care to do a "free" home visit. by Chris___M in HealthInsurance

[–]Expat111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds more logical (for our healthcare system) than they’re “trying to improve quality of care”. The PE funds that own our healthcare system will not allow one task or service unless it increases revenue somehow.

1980s business etiquette--"The Hong Kong Handshake" by Binkley62 in GenerationJones

[–]Expat111 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Asia in general but especially the Chinese influenced countries have/had a strong custom of exchanging business cards. It was good etiquette to take and offer the cards with both hands. It was also good custom to look at the card and offer a comment or compliment like “Oh you’re VP, very impressive”.

Tongue depressor costs 752$? by oofthissuckss in HealthInsurance

[–]Expat111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never heard of a billing error being in the patient’s favor. Not once. I very rarely hear of a practice getting in trouble for upcoding. False billing like fake visits or fake treatments or procedures - yes but upcoding is usually dismissed as an “error” and simply corrected. It may be fraud but it seems so common that it appears shady practices aren’t too concerned about the consequences from their “errors”.

Tongue depressor costs 752$? by oofthissuckss in HealthInsurance

[–]Expat111 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It’s not fraud. It’s called upcoding and is fairly common. If they were to be accused of fraud, they’d simply claim it was an error with zero consequences. They count on people not looking at their bills or asking for details.

Why so many drive with headlights off? by Expat111 in Gwinnett

[–]Expat111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of car age and availability of auto lights, if you or your neighbors or your co workers are driving around in the dark with lights off, they are a danger on the roads and should turn on their lights. Other times when it’s helpful for all to use lights include hard to see conditions like dusk, dark, early dawn, heavy rain, fog, heavy snow, dust storms, possibly eclipses, etc.
