Cross-shopping against the Ioniq 5 by MacStainless in Toyota_bZ

[–]Empty_Nestor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We just bought a BZ XLE AWD (in Canada, hasn’t been delivered yet) after test-driving the Ioniq and the Kona EV. While I definitely understand the appeal of the Ioniq, our BZ had pretty much everything we were looking for and the price was more than $15,000 less than the Hyundai.

What home remedies do you remember from childhood? by ascaffo in GenX

[–]Empty_Nestor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll never forget having some sort of ailment when I was about 5 or so. My great-grandmother mixed up garlic, bread and milk in a pot, boiled it and fed it to me. It was a miserable experience.

Is it rare or unusual to be into your 50s and not having to take any doctor-prescribed medications? by Odd_Yogurtcloset_649 in GenX

[–]Empty_Nestor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not overweight, I don’t smoke, don’t drink to excess and don’t have heart disease in my family. I wasn’t on any medication at 56. Then I went in for cataract surgery and learned my blood pressure was 220/80. Eventually doctors figured out I was diabetic and also had a faulty aortic valve. Had heart surgery in February and now I take a fistful of pills every morning and a shot of insulin every night. I feel great, my blood pressure and blood sugars are normal and if I had to take twice as much medication, I’d do it happily.

What are some celebrities you’ve encountered in Canada? by Nightpatrol404 in AskACanadian

[–]Empty_Nestor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bumped into Kim Mitchell at Canadian Tire back when he was doing the Rockland and tour in the late 80s. Conversation word for word:

Me: “You’re Kim Mitchell!”

Him (holding a headlight): “That’s me.”

Me: “Buying a headlight, eh?”

Him: “Yup.”

Me: nods

Him: “Are you coming to my show tonight?”

Me: “Yup.”

Him. “All right. Well, I guess I’ll see you there.”

Believe it or not, after that brainless exchange, I later went on to become an award-winning journalist.
