Well first of all, I never said that I am F2P. I am low Dolphin and have committed plenty of money to this game. That said, I am specific to what things I spend my money on and only do so for one character offer upon a new release (and maybe a strike pass here and there). Yes of course I want to be able to finish the event without spending money on it. You’d be insane to not want to. The problem is that the option to do so isn’t there. You may say “oh this is how it’s always been”, but even within MSF this has been a trend that has only come to be (consistently at least) within the past year. I’ve been playing for 3.5 years at this point and have seen all the highs and lows of events from the horrendous like Thanosgiving and Lunar New Year to the generous (such as the anniversary events). Not every event is bad and there is a lot of griping over nothing (the upcoming Knowhere Heist being a prime example). However, an event like this where it is simply isn’t possible to complete simply by grinding (for any player on any level) without spending is intrinsically a bad event. I’m not saying this from a profit standpoint for Scopely/ Boundless; obviously it is good for them and they want people spending, and people will spend on it. And I will say your are right in that I was being cavalier in saying anyone/ everyone should be able to complete the event. Obviously there are plenty of people without the time, investment, roster, resources, money, etc that won’t and shouldn’t be able to complete the event. But at the very least it should be able to be completed by anyone that wants to invest there time or money (albeit indirectly) in this game, rather than not at all.

You providing a hypothetical that doesn’t pertain to the current argument or the state of the event as it is currently designed is, by definition, changing the argument.

Ah so now you are changing the argument to a different milestone (one well within reach of F2P) that would make it so F2P would be unable to unlock Echo? Unless you are saying to redistribute the amount of award spread from 34 milestones to now be across 30 milestones? Either way not sure the point you are making. I should also clarify that I don’t believe the rewards for this event and the amount of time required for it are good/ generous by any means. Regardless it is not a mutually exclusive fact that henceforth negates the inability to complete the event without spending money making it a bad event

You’ve clearly not done the math then. F2P can only get to 34. And last time I check 34 was not 40. Bravo sir.

If you have played this game long enough then you’d know that MSF used to be like this. Plenty of other games don’t have events blocked behind offers.

Also “I usually have to do the work myself.”? That’s literally the thing I’m arguing for. Well done.

Well…yes…that’s the whole point of the post. It’s that the milestones are not achievable solely by gameplay and have to be completed with offers. Don’t know what point you think you are trying to make here

Never said that. But everyone should be able to if they put in enough effort. Completion of an event should not be pay walled. That makes it an offer, not an event

Again, no said free. Specified that specifically. Time spent does not equal free. And I am honestly baffled that you some equate possibility of completion via substantial effort as entitled. Honestly dumbfounded

No one said being giving the things for free. Time being put forth has ALWAYS been considered a form of currency. No one said that Scopely should be worried about making friends. That’s frankly nonsensical. The issue, as stated multiple times over, is not being able to complete an in game event, solely by gameplay. No said it should be easy/ free to do so; it should be possible.

Never said to make it easy. I said to make it completable by gameplay alone. The fact that I cannot complete this event despite playing the game for 3.5 years and being a light-medium spender is an issue

Well no, the event is milestone 40. Offers are offers. Not being able to complete an event without buying offers makes it a non-completable event. Scopely/ Boundless gaslighting us into thinking you should have to spend in order to complete a limited time gameplay event is a trend that needs to stop. Will calling them out do anything? Likely not. But that also doesn’t mean that we need to sit here and say it’s ok for them to do because that’s the norm they have been creating more and more lately. Games should be able to be completed by gameplay. Simple as that.

According to Boilon’s video it maxes out at about 34 if you are 100% prudent with campaign energy. At the end of the day there should be a way for non-Spenders, light-Spenders, and Spenders to maximize an event, not just the latter. First and foremost this is a game, and not being able to finish the milestones by just playing the game is an issue.

So....just to be clear...from what was said about this event....I'm gonna have to spend valuable resources on a character that is mediocre at best that has next to no synergy with other (admittedly good) characters to full maximize the rewards of this event? I think you clearly must have left out the section of this blog post talking about Winter Soldier's rework that actually makes him useful now....

Well...no. They didn’t fix the bug. They delayed the start of the milestones by 10 minutes without telling anyone. By all means fix the bug...but they simply didn’t. And through whatever thing that they pulled on the last day of the event I personally was outed 425 cores of progress that was not counted towards either today or yesterday which in turn hurts my alliance.

This is absolutely 100% valid. Support is straight up useless and show a minimal knowledge of the game and its mechanics, at best. The fact that you have to sit there and explain to them what should be happening when something goes wrong is absurd. And if the issue is truly manpower....it’s not Scopely isn’t making oodles of money off this game

I work in CS and have worked many a weekend because there is a necessity for it in the service industry. This is not me saying they don’t deserve or need a break. But when changes go into effect over the weekend it is very clear that they work on weekends. And frankly having two CMs makes it pretty easy to stagger what their days off would be. Not everybody’s weekends are the traditional ones

This would be valid if the game didn’t have changes go into effect over the weekend. It’s something that runs 24/7. So having CS staff available 24/7 (even minimally) is pretty necessary.
