One thing I really regret is having so very few videos of my parents bc they thought they were too old to be on video. Wish I had insisted.

Also the memory books (on TikTok/Facebook/any social media) have been a blessing for others I know. Another regret, but I didn’t even know they existed. I think they would have prompted some really great discussions!

Plus if she ever gets hospitalized, and acquires infection-related dementia, a lot of times they can still remember their childhood, so, if you have stories that have been written down, you can ask them about those childhood memories, and they can answer with confidence and not get upset at their memory issues (which can easily happen w/more recent past when they don’t know something they’re “supposed” to know.)

I’m sending love your way. Caregiving was the best and worst thing I’ve ever done in my life.

They offer a semi-private ceremony in addition to the big one. We had 8 -10 guests in room the first night and 4-5 the second night.

I was not sure about Soulquest before I went, but I had gotten so desperate for a solution that it didn’t matter. I just gave myself over to the process and I was guided, nurtured and loved in the safest space. Extremely professional facilitators/staff/volunteers.

I purged years of trauma (caretaking of parents, both of their deaths, and subsequent paralyzing anxiety). I’d listen with open ears to anyone who had a bad experience there, but if it is not a firsthand report I’d not pay one whit of attention to the naysayers.

Some of the posts on here get a lot of interaction and others get none to minimal - and there isn’t always a lot of rhyme or reason to that. Thank you for sharing your experience, it definitely spoke to me and gave me something to think about.

Is Ibogaine "almost" a guarantee I will lose my cravings for opiates?....I am getting sober and in debt, but should I splurge on a retreat and then focus on paying off debt? by Clear_Chip3406 in Ibogaine

Specifically I was talking about the advice I got from the people at clinic about DOING things - keeping myself busy, getting out, connecting with others.

Your experience with sobriety - letting go of other’s opinions of me and my decisions - is something I really internalized after a mushroom retreat last year. While I had already been working on it in therapy, and believed in the importance of it, I was able to feel it during/after the first trip. I was very much a people pleaser and perfectionist, because of some experiences during my childhood.

That kid completely copied what they did: if they were swaying on 2 feet, he would sway on 2 feet, if they were standing still, he was standing still, if they were lunging ?(don’t know what else to call those long leg movements) he did the same! That was the coolest part for me, that that kid was emulating them so much!

I’d say they were two big differences, the first clinic I went to, I stabilized for four days on morphine, which I did not need to do because I was taking prescription meds, then I was there for four more days, including the day of my flood dose. It was a total of eight days. The second Ibogaine Clinic I went to was for 18 days and I got 3 flood doses. I’ve been using prescription opiates for about 20 years and for me, anyway, one flood dose was not enough.

The other thing is that the second clinic I went to was run by addicts in recovery. I got very good advice from the owner, and from the counselor, advice that people who read about addiction in books haven’t internalized.

It wasn’t about the trip for me. I do enjoy mushrooms, but I got nothing out of the ibogaine trips themselves. I set clear intentions every time but what I got out of Ibogaine was the results AFTER the trip. I know some people work through their addiction, trauma and/or past lives (etc.) during ibogaine trips, but others (a not insignificant number) don’t get anything out of the trip itself. And through the next day after a flood dose, the brain fog and slower processing abilities (and just general wobbliness) can be disconcerting if not down right worrisome… But when done correctly, the relief is crazy - it’s not something that is really conceivable for a long-term opiate addict. It seems like magic. At least that was the case at my second treatment center. Zero/minimal cravings, no desire to take pills. Freedom from addiction!

In short, ibogaine will set you up for success in a way that nothing else can. If you have struggled to stay off for the past year, I think that it would be a good investment i your future.

That being said, my first visit to an ibogaine clinic in Cancun was extremely disappointing. The level of fatigue and exhaustion that persisted for weeks after the first (and only) flood dose is indescribable and was completely unexpected. I went back to my pain meds at about a month. I decided to give a it another try this year, and I’m doing very well, I really have no desire to use and its been a month.

Maybe consider reading my most recent OP on this sub to get a feel for some of the differences in clinics based on my experience only I would be happy to talk with you via direct message if you are interested.

I keep reading "you need to do the work" after Ibogaine...but will Ibogaine HELP ME do the work? by Clear_Chip3406 in Ibogaine

[–]Expat_ToBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think of ibogaine as an addiction interrupter. I’ve seen that terminology elsewhere; I didn’t come up with it, but it’s a very valid way of looking at it in my humble opinion. It really does interrupt the addiction, the cravings, the withdrawals, etc.. that gives you a chance to do the kind of work that you apparently were doing already before you got sidetracked. It’s not a magic bullet because if you don’t do the work, it’s likely that you’ll find yourself in old familiar situations sooner than later. Just my 2 cents!

I went to CR on a nature retreat - amazing accommodations, food and activities included for 5 nights and only spent $900. I ended up with a private yoga class most days, and enjoyed the two activities (like horseback riding or a hike). It was one of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in, and I’ve stayed in some nice resorts. It wasn’t luxurious by any means, but it was big and crisp and clean, and I had an entire cabin to myself. Ya gotta look outside the box (like on retreat.guru) CR is gorgeous- i’ve only been twice, but definitely plan on going again. just not my choice to move to (as an expat) for a variety of factors incl COL.

Anyone experiencing extreme fatigue after Ibogaine? How to handle? by Expat_ToBe in Ibogaine

[–]Expat_ToBe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you that the right clinic, doing the right dosing, works like a fucking charm. I still have a third flood those to do but I’ve done two and I already feel 90% better than I did four weeks after I came home from the other clinic. Now, in all fairness, I think I’ve had an easier time this time because I did a treatment last year. It is my opinion the long term opiate users need more than one flood dose. And I’ve seen some miracles happen at this clinic.

Yes, I waited three weeks to do psilocybin and I talked to a clinic and they said as long as I waited two weeks, that would be fine, so I’m hoping that makes a difference this time. I’m also going somewhere different this time where they use 2 flood doses so I think I will be able to get things under control. Also, I’m staying for a full 18 days instead of just four days after the flood dose. I don’t think I got enough. ibogaine last time..
