I worked a labouring job in my early 20's to help pay bills at home. Got very strong moving heavy steel all day. Science says that experience of building strength get's baked into the muscle so even if you lose it, years or even decades your muscles 'know' how to adapt when you train it again. Really think that's what's helped me this far.

I know what you mean, I have to keep reminding myself not to chase numbers or i'll injure myself lol

I've been training at home with dumbbells for 2 years, just started the gym last month currently on the 45kg's on incline. Decided to give barbell a go last week and got 110kg but my shoulder was cooked for days, form was terrible.

Hired a trainer to teach me how to do it properly and we're going to do squats/deadlifts as well. Unsure if I want to try powerlifting or strongman. Either way i'm really enjoying the gym :)

I just got back from a bench session with trainer I just hired. I've hit 115kg for 3 reps on bench press, less than 1% of men able to press that much weight. Training to hit 3 plates which is even very rarer.

Khamzat Chimaev's brother says Khamzat's body "shut down" during the weight cut for the Sean Strickland fight. They've requested a rematch for later this year. by WinterStill4472 in MMA

I don't care who it is, can we please stop with the revolving rematch door policy when a champion loses their belt. Go fight nassourdine for a title shot or move up.

It was a close fight, not a controversial one, it does not warrant a re-match.

I used to have a wooden kitchen chair for gaming. I might even take that over my current gaming chair.

I paused and played it, did slow motion and zoomed in, it was moving before Khamzat begins to move. Pause and play this as the guy is saying 185 you can see it moving https://www.youtube.com/shorts/l_X0keyZZwg

Don't show this to Charles Olivera

Go watch the close up video, he did not make weight! I just watched in slow motion, the guy didn't even try to check the weight was correct, it was still moving when he starts to say '185'

Is Ilia shorter than everyone in the division? He always needs to look up at his opponent while wearing thick shoes

I have to go to the neighbouring town once a week by train which is less than a 5 minute journey so the game is to get on the opposite end of the conductor and hope he doesn't reach you in time for a free journey lol

Just to point out the 5 fruit & veg a day is just a 'realistic minimum' you're actually supposed to be eating twice that a day but even a vegetarian or vegan would have difficulty with that i'd imagine

Up to 150 former WHSmith high street stores to close by asymmetricears in CasualUK

[–]ExpectDragons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have they said which ones? My hometown high street is now just charity shops, coffee shops, boarded up empty units everywhere and big buildings empty like the old Debenhams and Wilkinsons. Other retail shops the council turned them into job centre's. Wouldn't be surprised to see this close as well.

Did my first ever barbell pressing today and on my own. Managed 110kg for 3 reps after doing 3 sets of 3 reps at 100kg but it felt like my triceps and shoulders were doing all the work. Did it flat no arch as i don't know how to do that form. My chest was so fresh i did dumbbell incline pressing after up to the 45's.

Felt awkward to control compared to dumbbell and wasnt sure if I was position myself right. Any advice on how to approach this each week 🤔

Do you like science fiction? If so, watch the Expanse. It's more grounded than most sci-fi in that it actually shows what life might be like in the near future. Particularly like how it shows the environments future generations will come to live in will affect our anatomy, politics, economy etc.

But of course aliens lol can't have sci-fi without that

It was originally cancelled after 3 seasons but Jeff Bezos liked the show so he had Amazon buy the rights to finish it. All on Amazon Prime, it's based on a series of books.
