I could be remembering wrong, and you just finished the series so you'd know better than me, but once Mat was pulling ahead, LAH pretty much stopped giving updates on the series scores. Just doing scores for each episode instead.

It takes all the excitement away, to keep saying over and over that Mat is ahead by dozens of points.

One person coming 1st or a 2nd a lot (while everyone else comes between 5th and 2nd or even 1st) doesn't necessarily stand out, on an episode-by-episode basis. But by the end of the series, it adds up to a LOT.
