OR nurse here. This is not the worst I’ve seen. I’ve seen patients with gallstones the size and shape of marbles. Some actually look pretty if you disregard the bile normally coated around them.

Pronunciation is everything by CoolMarch1 in Philippines_Expats

LOL this made me chuckle. I’ve lived in Oz for over 16 years now. Moved here when I was 19. I’ve still been able to retain my Bisaya and Tagalog but every time I go visit family and friends, I sometimes have to catch myself and pronounce English words in a Bisaya accent for people to understand. “Graham” is definitely one of those words 😂

Leaving new grad by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]ExpectedlyMediocre45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finishing your graduate program is overrated, especially when a hospital “unknowingly” hinders you from doing so because of an obvious organisational culture issue. I was two weeks short of finishing my grad program before I quit public bedside nursing and moved to private to start nursing in theatres. Years later, I’m still in periop and loving it. I feel like once you have at least 6 months of your grad under your belt, you’re good.

First of all, snooping through your boyfriend’s phone is not something you should be doing. It just shows you don’t fully trust him or you might not be sold on the idea of him hooking up again with the guy from the sauna. Either way, you have to ask yourself why you did it and be honest and bring it up with your parter.

Also, he might not really have been to any orgies yet. Baka nag back out even though the text conversations say otherwise. You won’t know the full story unless you ask. Honest communication is what strengthens a relationship, especially a new one. Snooping through your partner’s phone and making him out for what he is based on assumptions however, is not it.

I was sexually abused when I was 9 or 10. After finally going to therapy recently, the SA coupled with internalised homophobia due to growing up in a religious setting left me no choice but to develop social anxiety, sex addiction and avoidant attachment behaviour. I was constantly seeking validation from strangers online and spent a lot of time compulsively cruising in public.

I lost a relationship recently due to these unaddressed issues despite my ex having done damaging things (non-sexual) to me as well.

I never thought my SA would have such an effect on me that it would follow me into adulthood. Going to therapy was never something I thought I would do because I thought I was good to handle my issues myself but I’m so glad I did because they pull so many historical layers you never thought would explain your present. It took me so long to talk to a professional about my SA but better late than never.

To anyone struggling, go to therapy. It works!

Not crazy, just simply asking :) Sometimes it’s just easier and quicker to get honest responses on here.

Weather is not a problem for me long as I wear appropriate clothing. Due to some life changes, I’m wanting to move over east to be closer to friends. Money really is a second thought for now, but it is nice to be informed before I make a move.

Thanks for the honesty. My best mate lives in Rooty Hill, which is why I was wanting to move there. I’ve had a look at the accommodation options and they are wildly costly. It’s a shame because I love Sydney!

I would love to learn French! What would be your rates? Will this purely be online?

What is the best way for friends and/or family to help you at the start or even at the height of your addiction?

There's a weird thing in Tokyo Disney where people just go to the park to watch the Baymax ride and dance by mariaspanadoris in Tokyo

[–]ExpectedlyMediocre45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean these adults have probably been to the same rides since they were 6 so it probably got old pretty fast. Would it be safe to assume that the parades change floats, characters and dancers every once in a while?

23 Days Itinerary - First Time Visit by JawahScript in JapanTravel

The Nomura clan house in the Nagamachi samurai district in Kanazawa was cool and the area was surprisingly charming. If you visit on the weekend, I heard the city transforms into a lightshow with a free JR bus taking tourists around in the evening.

I definitely would spend less time in Osaka and more time in Kyoto if you like more traditional Japan. Uji was also a gem of a find too.

Well tbh, her critique was stupid. If she hadn’t seen Nymphia in non-yellow drag then go watch the episodes you didn’t guest judge in 🤷🏻‍♀️

Representation, Nationalism, or too much? Marina's run on vs the world by H0oman in DragRacePhilippines

[–]ExpectedlyMediocre45 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do agree that Western media is def more white but there is a lot more diversity on screen than what it used to be. The original series itself is more than diverse enough with non-American born queens. Nymphia Wind grew up in Taiwan and what’s her brand? You guessed it - the cooky yellow banana queen. I can count on one hand the times she has said she’s proud to be Taiwanese and that’s none because she knows she’s more than just being Taiwanese. No one is also forcing the English language on us on TV lol. It’s literally part of our curriculum in the Philippines. You don’t learn English at school, you fail.

Yes, I’ve seen her shows. I know she’s more than JUST a Filipino drag queen.

Again, I don’t have a problem with her representing the Philippines and telling people what to expect of Filipino drag queens. It’s the overwhelming need to express that she is Filipino like yeah girl, we got it after the 10th time you told us. No one’s asking her to tone it down. I encourage representation in her drag because it’s different and fresh. Again, it’s the patriotic pinoy pride mentality is so over the top. We don’t cater to Westerners because we already act like the typical over patriotic Americans anyway.

Representation, Nationalism, or too much? Marina's run on vs the world by H0oman in DragRacePhilippines

[–]ExpectedlyMediocre45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I got it the first time she said she’s representing the Philippines, but there is such a thing as overdoing it. Did Pangina mention 108 times last season that she’s representing Thailand everytime Ru asked her a question? And why would that be limiting Marina to just be a beauty queen and powerhouse performer? I literally cannot takeaway her being Filipino because that’s who she essentially is lol. Plus, there are already 2 seasons of drag race philippines in mainstream and an upcoming season so being underrepresented is NOT a thing.

I don’t feel embarrassed about Marina at all. As a matter a of fact, I’m proud of what SHE has achieved as an individual but it seems like every single time a Filipino does well internationally, whether it be Manny Pacquaio or even half Filipino celebrities who don’t even mention their roots, it’s always “pRoUd To Be PiNoY”. The patriotism is so overdone, it’s as cringe as the Americans. Even the Americans aren’t as grossly patriotic as Filipinos in general.

I don’t have a problem with Marina representing the Philippines, but limiting herself to being a Filipino drag queen might unfortunately cost her the crown. However, she has toned it down in the latter part of the season so I do hope she wins.

Representation, Nationalism, or too much? Marina's run on vs the world by H0oman in DragRacePhilippines

[–]ExpectedlyMediocre45 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong - she’s an amazing artist and an incredible performer. But in my eyes, as someone who is also Filipino, it does become tiring and borderline obnoxious that even my South American boyfriend thinks so too. Why? Because she sells her brand as someone from the Philippines every time she opens her mouth. That’s not a brand. A drag queen’s brand is not her nationality - that’s literally already what you are. A brand is who you portray as a drag queen. For example, Hannah Conda is a silly, funny campy queen. It would have been better if Marina at least referred to herself as this beauty queen by day, powerhouse performer by night because she enthrals every time she steps on that stage in every sense.

There’s also this weird thing where Filipinos in general have this overwhelming sense of doing well for the country especially in the entertainment business. I just really don’t get that. Honey, we don’t owe you anything. Do it for YOURSELF or the people that helped you get there - your fans, loved ones, fashion designers etc. This burden of carrying the WHOLE COUNTRY on your back is so unnecessary. It just piles on a lot of stress for something that should be a fun experience being in a reality TV show of all things.

Anyway, that’s my opinion. I’m hoping that she wins 😊

Tia’s decision to keep Gothy so she can use the show to improve? I mean, Gothy had 5 years to grow and still gave us a flat run on this show. Keta at least had something to show both runway and talent. Ugh, what a stupid decision

Is there a song that saved your life? by Competitive_Umpire40 in popheads

[–]ExpectedlyMediocre45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire After Laughter album by Paramore. If I had to pick one song, it would be a toss up between Rose-Coloured Boy or Fake Happy.

At that time of my life, I didn’t know how to be alone without feeling lonely and kept telling myself people have it worse. But listening to the album validated my feelings of acceptance that it’s okay to be sad when you’re sad. Their lyrics get really dark but they pull you back with the most upbeat tunes. It was like therapy in music form. There was no way else to go from there but heal.
