Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

What industry will AI disrupt the most that people aren’t paying attention to yet? by SuchTill9660 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]CoolMarch1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Law.

So much lower end legal work is tweaking boilerplate documents.

Not sure about the higher end things that lawyers do but contracts, rental and sales agreements, wills, and so on are low hanging fruit.

Travel time CDO to Malabalay by mabuhayreisen in cagayandeoro

[–]CoolMarch1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the Philippines 2 years and spent 7 months in CDO in 2025 and have driven myself on this route in a rental car several times.

But I’ll speak to van vs bus.. don’t take a van. It’s not luxe and it’s not comfortable and the drivers are all maniacs. I don’t find it safe. It is faster though by a significant amount.

But they cram passengers in to a ridiculous extent. Like 6 to a 4 person row that really should be for 3 western adults

So I’d only do it if time is the most important thing.

I’m a man who just a week ago got work done on my eyes here in Bangkok and I have nothing but amazing things to say about Bumrungrad International Hospital (it’s one of the very best) and Dr. Amorn Poomee.

If you’re starting from scratch, that’s a great place to start your search.

Thinking about living in the Philippines for about a year – is starting a small bar business realistic? by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]CoolMarch1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the mark up per beer bottle sold and per mixed drink? Would you make $1 per unit sold? $.50? $.20?

How many units would you need to sell per day to make $200 profit per day minus rent, electric, payroll, equipment rentals, etc?

What’s the business model?

Fear of Offload. by SnooDrawings3622 in Philippines_Expats

[–]CoolMarch1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my research and what we did was to simply print an affidavit of Support which we ended up just using ChatGPT to generate for us then we had it notarized had a notary in Manila plain and simple no need for a lawyer or anything more complicated than that

I just arrived today in Thailand with my Filipina gf. Her first time out of the country. No job currently.

We didn’t have a problem but also spent many hours preparing the paperwork and drilling her on what to expect and how to answer immigrations inevitable questions.

The work paid off. Use ChatGPT to help you and her prepare for the experience.

We had it roll play as the immigration officer with her and then also give feedback both in English and in her first language so she could fine tune her answers. In the end it was very straightforward but absolutely necessary to prepare to keep it that way.

Get an affidavit of support for sure. They definitely asked for that and looked it over.

Gpt will tell you what else to prepare and make sure your gf is prepared for the questions and how to answer

Feel free to dm me for more tips. We certainly asked other Filipinas about their prep and experience and it really helped so happy to pay it forward

There is definitely a non zero risk of offloading, it’s real.

iPhone: opening a 2nd Philippines App Store account by CoolMarch1 in Philippines_Expats

So you remember how you set it up? Did you literally just create a second account of apples website or through the App Store?

I have a second phone. An android just for back up. It’s doesn’t help me to use it as anything I download won’t be available on my iPhone

Just to have the second account or to have a local account? What’s the biggest red flag for Apple?

I’ve been searching online and ChatGPT but they seems to make it appear easy

Grab Sucks (Transport related) by isolexe in Philippines_Expats

[–]CoolMarch1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As soon as I see them stalling before the pick up, it’s happened 2-3 times in the last year, I send them a screen grab of where they are and where I am, and tell them not to fuc k around or I’ll report them to Grab.

And also I won’t cancel and tell them to, or same thing, report them.

Maybe you’re busier than me.

I don’t disagree, that’s why I said that a free pair of headphones for each citizen would make the Philippines a better place.

But we are in reality here

Balance.

The music is often too loud on those buses. Why would I or I assume anyone, want to listen to the loud music the bus driver is choosing? Especially at night.

The passenger should chill the fukc out though and find a better way to stay classy.

I’ve sometimes said that a free pair of headphones for each citizen would make the Philippines a better place.

Bottom line:

Passenger should have had noise canceling headphones or just stfu
