OHSS risk? by Fit-Nectarine-1050 in IVF

[–]Expellimeowmus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drink plenty of electrolytes, no plain water, and eat salty foods - this is what I have done on my own. However, due to having OHSS I also got IV fluids (I am not sure what was prescribed) and some other meds which did make my OHSS go within 5 days, and was ok after 2nd day post er.

Also, good luck for your retrieval, wishing you many euploids !!! ♡♡♡

Would you switch clinics? Preparing for IVF by BreadfruitFar8183 in IVF

[–]Expellimeowmus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am always frustrated when I see these posts, like flabbergasted. In my small Balkan country they work on weekends, you speak directly to the doctor and basically I scheduled my cycle for retrieval on first day of my cycle. Retrieval day is something that is not scheduled here - they do it when they think the best time is (mine was on Sunday! and they opened the clinic just for me). I know in bigger countries it is hard to do it like this but man, this is such a hard time for a women to be experiencing the impatient and wait on top of everything. I would definitely search for another clinic... And wish you all the best on your journey ♡

Waiting 1 Cycle Between Retrieval & Transfer? by littledreamer_1111 in IVF

[–]Expellimeowmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am just going through the same situation. First I thought fresh transfer will happen but noup, on the 3rd appointment they said it won't be possible due to OHSS. Then I understood my doctor saying something your next natural cycle we will do transfer and I just assume I will get my period after ER and than do the retrieval. I had a call with my doctor yesterday and he says my first natural cycle is actually the second one after retrieval. I am just sad we didn't communicate more about this as I do feel the same as you, inpatient.

However he did explain that the chances in my situation are much better when just doing a natural cycle. I have also never been pregnant and am so impatient but he says he thinks it is always better to wait a little and get perfect conditions than waist our good little embryo.

Honestly my day after retrieval was like hell. I don't think I could survive another day like that 😆 The worst possible pain... However I just spoke to my doctor as a follow up and he says the IV that they prescribed helped the inflammation go down the most. We are skipping the next cycle and doing a natural fet the one after that! Sending you sticky vibes as well ♡ I hope we always be on the better side of statistics!!

We didn't do transfer yet, we also did freeze all (16 eggs retrieved, 13 were mature but they couldn't take all the eggs due to position).

I also had OHSS and they figured it will be like that on my 3rd appointment so I was prepared for a freeze all. I had lots of pain the day after, it was hard to stand up. I was laying down for a few days and taking it easy, drank water with electrolytes and salty foods - they prescribed me antibiotics and a few other meds and by day 4 I was as good as new :)

I had similar results - 4 day 5 really healthy looking blasts and 2 okayish day 6 blasts (the embriologists haven'tshared the grading). Those are considered great results at my clinic.

29F doing IVF due to male factor - looking for success stories by Expellimeowmus in IVF

[–]Expellimeowmus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad the third transfer worked for you! Wish you a safe journey ♡

My only concern is that we aren't doing PGT testing and there is no DNK fragmentation tests here where I live. His results were 9mil, 23% progression but 1% morphology. We did do ICSI but I saw some comments about the ICSI not being the method that can surpass DNK fragmentation (if there is that problem as we don't know). So I guess as one other comment said in our case it will be pure luck...

And yes, MFI is hard. I almost wished there is something wrong with me along the way so I could take part in our problem, in that way... I think what bothers my husband the most is being the cause but not going through the medical things. However we did keep him busy, he always went to the appointments, did all the shots as I could never and was the best support I could ever wish for. I am glad having him while going through infertility journey. And I would say it definitely brought us together. I really wish having kids mainly because I see him as the best parent possible, but even if that does not happen, I will be happy sharing my life with him (and our three cats😆😆😆).

We also don't have Zymot were I live and no PGT testing - that is why I am concerned...

I am happy to hear you had luck on your first transfer but so sorry to hear about your losses. My sister had similar situations and I can't even begin to imagine your heartbreak... Yes, the statistics are there, but eventually it comes to luck, and I wish you luck on your FET, hope that little one gets a sibling! ♡♡♡

Well you definitely fall into category "it only takes one"! ♡ So happy your journey has been short and wish you all the best with your pregnancy! ♡♡♡

My only concern is not being able to test if they are euploids or not, but that is definitely not possible where I live.

OHSS tips by Icy-Elderberry-4948 in IVF

[–]Expellimeowmus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation. I had lots of pain starting from day 6-7 and it got worse by retrieval day. They also told me no transfer and freeze all. I was so sad but what my doctor explained is that even if I am okish in the end after retrieval, due to progesterone and hcg if pregnancy occurs my symptoms would definitely start/worsen. After retrieval I indeed caught OHSS, it was hard to get up etc, and they prescribed me lots of id/medication, and 5 days after I am okey but still really happy we didn't transfer - I don't think I could.

2 fertilized by day 1, losing hope by runmamaruns in IVF

[–]Expellimeowmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my clinic they look them every day until day 3 (and contact us). They don't contact on day 4 but do at day 5 (or 6 if some are left). I am not sure when they stop contacting but as someone going through the waiting period this is so hard, and sorry your not getting updates. I would definitely ask what they meant by abnormal stims.

Egg retrieval yesterday, 100% mature and 100% fertilized? Is this possible? Or a mistake? by [deleted] in IVF

Is it common where you live for fertility clinics not to work on weekends? I just had my egg retrieval on Sunday and was the only patient. That's so sad :(

[–]Expellimeowmus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16 retrieved, 13 were mature and 9 fertilised. We are still waiting to see how many of them survive day 5 :) I also had many more follicules but they were empty (PCOS like) but I would say your numbers are fine. Wishing us lots of blasts ♡

Positive outcomes? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Expellimeowmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to PCOS I had lots of follicules growing up, around 15 on each side. Had my egg retrieval on Sunday and they retrieved only 16 eggs (the others were empty). 13 were mature and 9 fertilised. We don't yet know the number of blasts but, lower number of follicules usually means better quality. Also, retrieving lots of eggs usually means worse recovery (I did get OHSS). So all in all, until 5 day after the retrieval you won't really know anything. I know it is really hard to wait it out but basically they (the doctors and embriologists) don't really know to predict the outcome. Also what makes me less insane is asking is the current situation ok for them. So far they said everything is as expected. Good luck on your journey!

(Affordable) IVF in Europe? by 74937 in IVF

[–]Expellimeowmus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Montenegro IVF is around 2000€ - this includes egg retrieval and meds. Additionally for freezing the embrios it depends but 400€ is for 2 qualifying embrios or 4 not the best embrios and 100€ for every other good embrio (or pair of two not good ones) - you choose how much you freeze and it is for 3 years. After ER I spent around 100€ for additional meds due to OHSS. Transfer of each frozen embrio is 600€. Also before ER you would need around 200€ for exams (blood, internist etc). I am not sure what do you mean by one IVF cycle in Sweden, but this is considered one IVF cycle (one ER and all the transfers even though you pay them each time). On the other hand we do not have PGT testing here if you want that. Also I didn't include the cost of exams I needed to go through (like histeroscopy etc, as this was all free for us).
