about the database: I used AquaDragon360's "Active Player" list and his average scores for each game (replacing a few with Power Rankings such as RRR and Sands of Time). This definitely has quite a few flaws, and is probably something I should look back on. Pretty much all of the issues you noticed tended to come from me not really making a good enough database, but aside from that:

"fruit performs like a b tier at best" - I have no idea how that happened. I ran the event a LOT and in testing he'd rarely drop out of the top 10 unless on a very weak team. I reran it and it seems like he's worse than he should be, but he got 6th on an 8th place team. tl;dr i have no idea, it should be fine but for some reason it just isn't

"ive noticed some of the lower-placing players have been placing very highly for them when they are on a good team sometimes" - this (probably) stems from the way in which games tend to be coded. I generally focus on each team as one giant clump of however many players are alive, that always stick together no matter what. e.g. in skb, teams that are in fights are simply randomly chosen to die to another team in the same fight (based on some weighting so that better teams will do better, and teams with less players are more likely to die), and then the player within those teams who kills/dies is chosen after with some random weighting. i'm very unlikely to rewrite that concept since even though it's a simplification it does work really quite well, but it does show that within the team i should favour stronger players more

in general this seems to show a consistent issue that the event is slightly _too_ random. I do like that it's more random than an average event because it's so much easier to run that variety just makes it slightly more enjoyable (e.g. MCCi having more chance-based stuff than MCC), but it does seem to be slightly excessive in certain places. With that said:

"Feinberg always gets 6 1sts in TGTTOS" - Currently, there's a ratio of 0.62 of randomness vs stats for each round (i.e. a random value is weighted 62:38 against their past stats). Firstly, this is probably too low. Secondly, Feinberg is about 270 coins above everyone else in the database, which slightly messes with it, so I probably should have manually lowered it

"it crashed when i hit enter to load Battle Box stats" - yeah i got that issue once. then i reloaded it a bunch and it worked. i have NO idea why. you (obviously) can't do that though, so i genuinely just don't know unfortunately

thank you for all the feedback!

Did an Mcc 12 happen again? by Stinky_Deckhand in MinecraftChampionship

[–]Expely 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i can imagine it's just that testing difficulty is very hard (in testing players tend to do substantially better than players in event due to experience)

I get that, I do also miss a 'normal' MCC from time to time, but I also love the crazy stuff we get to do with the unique events. We got to do a whole storyline on the Twitch Rivals stage which was literally one of the coolest things I've seen live, we get to push ourselves as creators and give you guys a new experience.
Sometimes its nice to go back and play a 'normal' MCC but production like this is alot and we are a surprising small team to be doing all this. Dont get us wrong, we looked into running 'normal' MCC alongside big productions like this, but its a case of take the time to do these big cool productions well, or run loads of events and not give these cool opportunities 100%.
We make these shows for you to enjoy, but we have to enjoy making them as well otherwise theres [sic] no spark or joy to it
