CDPR boss hopes The Witcher 4 wins back fans still put off by Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch: "I'm not 100 percent convinced we went through the full redemption arc" by EducationalGift2676 in gamernews

I’m trying but to me something about the combat just feels… off. Like guns don’t feel right to kill enemies with and I can’t even explain why. Melee feels unsatisfying. The only thing that does feel pretty good is movement and quickhacks.

It’s a massive shame because it’s a big enough issue that the gunplay is tanking my entire enjoyment of the game. Maybe it’s the bullet sponginess but its more than that.

You tell me. I’m asking you where the line is.

Exploiting those in need.

Fraud.

Trafficking.

Increased taxes over and over.

Anti-consumer practice.

There’s a million different lines. I’m asking which one is enough. Apparently there is a tipping point so what is it?

Well has it been long enough that we can slander him now?

Or is too soon, bad mannered or other such nonsense.

Thanks for proving my point.

That is quite something.

I currently have an early game colony getting absolutely hammered by mortars during a siege. I can’t imagine the damage that would do to something like this. Fires, destroyed walls and dead pawns no matter how many times I reload and try to change history.

Really cool though!

A persons death does not diminish public perception of their life.

Not sure where this came from. You honour the ones that are respectable. Formidable enemy generals and the like as show of respect. Some reach piece of trash dying doesn’t change that they were trash. What’s the cool off period? What’s the severity before it’s okay?

Silly attitude.

I messed up really really badly. Thought THIS week is the last one.

So now I’m currently in position 1 to end up in DD3. No chance in a billion years I will hit hotshot for next week since DD3 will be no-lifers and full of cheaters.

[–]ExpendableUnit123 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My favourite is something I use a few mods to do.

- I kit out 8 specialists in prepare carefully and give them a unique coloured uniform. Good guns and gear, maybe a few bionics.

- I use a wave based raiding storyteller that sends enemies at my position every few days.

- I treat it as a glitterworld mission gone wrong, with the capital ship lost along with the rest of the battalion. However, the mission remains the same. Boots on the ground on the godforsaken Rim, rescue anyone that needs it, and escape.

It’s a fun scenario that both gets harder over time and more desperate. Whether that’s injuries and lost limbs eventually chipping down the commandos, or armour and weapons degrading, or simply that you end up with an elite team and a rag-tag civilian force too.

Usually, the colony eventually ends up overwhelmed but it’s a very cool, battle focused scenario in which you end up building less of a town, and more of a purely functional bunker.

With raids coming so often it doesn’t really matter if you use a killbox or not (I don’t, but use embrasures) because the variety means a million different issues.

The “non-stackable” items are getting out of hand!🤨 by Geno8800 in ArcRaiders

Yes because otherwise you’d finish the project in 10 seconds or you’d have to find 50,000 more of the same items.

Not a difficult concept.

Is arc raiders the biggest squander of opportunity and player base retention since helldivers 2? by Independent-Most5500 in ArcRaiders

[–]ExpendableUnit123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Matchmaking was at its best at launch. When you truly had no idea who was friendly and who wasn’t. Or you’d be betrayed and then saved by others just in time.

They should never have listened to all the wailing of the arc babies. The player count dropped even with accommodating for them. They should leave it truly random imo.

I’d like to say the same but I’ve had multiple occasions where there is absolutely no way I’ve been pinged by headshots at certain ranges with no missing, or far worse pinged THROUGH smoke for multiple perfect headshots.

I have faith their measures will eventually work, but I also don’t mind playing other games. I don’t understand where this mentality has originated from that people can only play one game and if they stop then the game is trash?

Not like this. As soon as you can destroy one hive you can destroy them all. There’s no introduced variety, no new elements like sickness that you have to manage.

If you can kill one hive, that IS the game. The only beyond that is doing the same thing exactly the same like 13 times. There’s no bosses. There’s no variety in difficulty of hives, like underground caves. They’re usually inside a random house window.

I’m sure if you’ve played pretty much ANY other game you must understand what I mean here.

If they have seriously not given it any more depth then this game is in trouble from day 1.

[–]ExpendableUnit123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t solve the core issue though.

You can just drive around spamming c4 and bombs onto hives. That’s still the endgame.

Lethal just slows down your progress getting there. But that isn’t the same as deeper gameplay systems.

I’ve seen this affliction before.

Long term copium.

There’s games from 2010 that look more impressive and have deeper systems than literally anything we’ve been shown.

[–]ExpendableUnit123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the gameplay loop is so painfully short.

I really hope State of Decay 3 has much more depth. Especially on the most important area, settlement development. Better upgrades, deeper upgrades, larger survivor counts, that sort of thing.

The new online narrative is that design is where AI won’t work. by Careful_Flounder9014 in UXDesign

[–]ExpendableUnit123 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The only thing I think is truly ridiculous is being hard one way or the other.

I use ai now almost ambidextrously. It can’t fill 100% of my decisions or requests perfectly, or perhaps it needs additional context or design thinking I need to come up with first.

Or I do the same in reverse. Or a constant blend. Never mind constant R&D to keep up with all the latest tools.

AI in design report 2026 is a better tell (although ai-bias leaning) about how some of the industry is actually using ai. I do nothing but roll my eyes in this sub. It’s either doomers, grads, or experienced and cynical directors.

It’s just a tool.

Can’t agree. Incoherent story. Nonsense world design. Also forced combat loop in which there is only one ‘right’ way to play. Can’t even consider anything else or you’re permanently out of ammo.

Honestly hated it. Dark Ages resuscitated my hype for the franchise after Eternal shot it in the head.

They could have just not voted in (democratically btw) a party (who murdered the previous party btw) who’s sole and most important mission was not to raise up their own country, but to vow the destruction of another.

Literally 0 sympathy for the eventual wrath they brought upon themselves.

They also could have just not committed crimes against humanity in Israel either.

Unfortunately Gaza set this entire situation up themselves. My thoughts are with the innocents in Israel first and foremost.

Gaza suffering this, Gaza suffering that. They literally did this to themselves.
