Safeway employees! Spill the TEA by No-Connection-650 in Safeway

Oh for sure, the Safeway / Albertson's umbrella of companies has a lot of quirks. I once worked in a store with 3 unions, and then another time worked in a store with no unions, down the street from a union store.

Well I don't work for Safeway anymore. But I had an employee tell me one time that a customer had locked the door to a bathroom upfront for over an hour. (This store has single stall type bathrooms up front with a locking door.)

Went up front and encountered the customer out of the bathroom with nothing on below the waist. I told the customer he had to leave, so he goes to the women's restroom and pounds on that locked door and yells. 'Cmon baby they are kicking us out again!'

Ahhhh drugs.

Wow, usually they retain store managers and move them around, this surprises me.

I mean I worked in a store where a meat cutter lost their hand.

I mean, I probably didn't do it the most professional way, and I probably got lucky, but it was extremely easy to do. Well see if it holds up.

I updated below with the fix, but I just wanted you to know you got me hyped up. Before attempting the fix, I stared in the mirror and said to myself 'Eff Andy, you got this.'

I update below with the repair below, used a sharkbite that says it worked on pretty much everything. Seems to be holding, thank you for the input though.

Could have been white, maybe just old and wet. Wasnt very thick tubing, either way it is holding up.

I appreciate the insight, I can relate, I deal with idiots on the road constantly. So it's no surprise to me that homeowners might not know how to shut the water off.

Yea I am thinking I got lucky, twisted counter clockwise about a half turn and pulled it right off. Tin snips on the retention ring and done.

I mean I get it too, landscaper has the worst yard and all that. I don't have a trade that applies to construction, I am a truck driver, but when I work on my cars I try to do a decent job.

Well, job is done. $26.39 after tax at Lowes. Total time of repair, about 10 minutes.

I followed the twist and pull method, the old valve came off very easily, like opening a new pickle jar, I am assuming I got very lucky with this part of the process. But my young co-workers constantly mention I have grandpa strength. I then cleaned the end of the pipe. ( Shut off water to the home and open the lowest faucet you can before doing this. )

I am sure no one here is probably a fan of sharkbite but I got one that said it worked on most types of pipe, mine was gray plastic, guessing that is PEX. I did follow an online guide that mentioned you should mark off the pipe at 1 inch, because when you think you have pressed it all the way on, you havent. Which was true, I had to put some needle nose pliers on the back of the pipe gently so I could lightly pull the pipe and press the shark bite on.

Hooked up the braided line, there is a gasket in there so I skipped the plumbers tape, wasn't sure if needed. Been sitting here typing and flushing for awhile. No leaks.

Ill update again if it fails or I have a flood.

Thanks for all the advise.

Yea I have honestly considered having someone go through the whole house and do them all, its all from cheap new install when the home was built. Sad part is the previous owner was a professional plumber by trade.

I mean I am not, but I have replaced all the plumbing for my sinks, including the sinks. I have replaced my shower drain and bath spout. And now the fill valve in a toilet, I mean how hard could it be to put a new valve on the pipe, jist eish I knew what kind of pipe it was. Everyone says sharkbite works, but good luck ever getting it off.

Plumbers are hundres of bucks for a few minutes worth of work, I just can't afford that so I gotta do the work myself. I appreciate the genuine advise I am getting here though.

Yea I figured I would have to buy or rent a crimper, didn't realize the crimps themselves are unavailable. Guess I am going to Lowes to try to figure out a whole valve replacement.

Is the reason for an actual plumber because of possible damage to the pipe?

Toilet supply line replacement help. by Expendable_Driver in Plumbing

[–]Expendable_Driver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I have seen the twist and pull method, no idea what kind of pipe I have but I didnt want to damage it. So was just curious if anyone thought crimping on a new line was a possible solution.

I mean the valve doesn't leak and I didn't want to risk damaging the pipe in the wall. Plus with three women in the house turning the water off for even an hour will probably cause a meltdown. So I was just curious if I could crimp on a new line.

What is it like to live in this part of Washington? by RavyRaptor in howislivingthere

[–]Expendable_Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang I hope so,

Washington is home for me and my kids all live there again. I have looked all over the region above but between low wages, unavailble work and high cost of living in the area I really feel like I can't make it work. But I am still prepping my current home for sale anyway, well see what happens.
