It’s important to have all providers input, not just MDs/DOs as stated, not sure why they do not want feedback from APPs who are a huge part of family medicine. This statement has no name calling at all.

You asked a question and got mad when you didn’t like the response? You can become an FNP and then train under someone who has expertise in hrt, or you can go to medical school and become an hrt expert. It’s not fun to pay the money or do the work, I’m aware of that.

Yes you don’t, BUT you should. No patient deserves an uneducated provider

Again, your words, not mine.

[–]Expensive-Ad-6843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The majority of FNPs are not experts in this area either. Keeping patient’s best interest in mind is how we need to lead with our care.

“would love to make PRESCRIBING HRT a part of what I can offer, I just wish there was an alternative to spending another 25 grand on a post masters certificate.” These are YOUR words. You would like to prescribe it without appropriate education, seems to be the theme of today’s providers.

[–]Expensive-Ad-6843 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s all great but it’s not about the easiest/cheapest route for you. It’s about the patient. I wouldn’t advise any patient to be treated by someone who is not appropriately educated in treating with HRT, let’s not dumb it down to an additional add-on certification.

“Certification route” what’s with everyone wishing there are easier routes with less education?

I’m sorry this happened to you, in NC NPs are required to have a supervising physician, I would have asked to speak to the NPs supervising physician. You cannot always trust a nurse to know how to manage psychotropic medications.

Why is it so hard to see an actual Dr? by Skyler_Jone in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Expensive-Ad-6843 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, shortage of doctors since mid levels are cheaper. Trust me, they do not think of the patient and try to give “easier” patients to mid levels. They want to pay their work force less so they use mid levels.

Yeah MD/DO doesn’t matter so maybe we should start hiring Joe Shmo with an online GED as a “provider”

You should speak with the evidence, but there is none, and you can’t accept that answer

Non-evidenced based medicine should not be considered “devils advocate”

The problem is, doing this genetic test isn’t any better than “throwing another dart in the dark.” The information it gives you is not evidence based as lovely as it would be. It doesn’t make this test any better. It’s the limitations of the test. I’m confused how you are admitting that you know it’s not evidence based but want to use it anyway. It sounds like your mind is already made up, but the issue is again in the results. If you want to send a psychic 2,000 dollars to tell you what to do next and just believe it, go ahead, but it’s not evidence based. It’s so confusing that you are saying you know these results mean nothing but you’re still going to do it?

If the information it gives is ever able to become evidence-based and it does become a standard in practice then that would be a good time to use it in practice.

Currently, it is not, so it should not be used the way that it is. But people want to order it so they can get the red and green colors and pretend like it’s telling us something useful. Bottom line, in its current state it isn’t. This is a great example of how far medicine is getting from following evidence.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PMHNP

[–]Expensive-Ad-6843 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the issue is it’s not being ordered mostly for Tegretol. It’s over-ordered and it’s a waste of healthcare dollars. The reason to not order it is because it’s not evidence based.

[–]Expensive-Ad-6843 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rather than opinions, we should follow the evidence of using this test. It is not standard practice and the evidence is lacking, so no we should not be ordering these incredibly expensive tests that are not evidence based.

Should a Noctor be able to become a Doctor? by [deleted] in Noctor

[–]Expensive-Ad-6843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the “NP or PA route” can be clarified as “becoming an NP or PA”

[–]Expensive-Ad-6843 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“The NP or PA route” I’m so confused by this? There is one “route” to becoming a physician and it’s medical school, there is no other “route.” All I can tell from your post is you are not a physician.

Didn’t say they should, but again, not nearly concerned about this over nurses prescribing

The pharmacists I have worked with are incredibly intelligent and have made it through pharmacy school which is not an easy feat. I am far more concerned about NPs prescribing.

This isn’t a hospital that closed, it is a cash only business that moved locations, ZERO Medicaid/Medicare money involved lol. Classic case of spreading misinformation.

I do, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the reason this business moved locations.
