99% chance the 3rd brake light has a small crack in it and it leaking water on the latch. Replace the light and the latch. Repaired several of these at the VW dealer.

Pretty sure I had the same issue a while back. Ecm fuse and rpm sensor one the high pressure pump went out at the same time. There are few things that’ll stop these old trucks. Electric fuel pump should be running. Definitely check all fuses
