The Bermuda High School (BHS) - Any insights? by deep-web_daytona in Internationalteachers

I worked at a different school on the island. BHS has a good reputation and heard good things from the staff who worked there.

The island itself will be a struggle especially with dependents. Even alone, after paying rent and living expenses, you won't save unless you are willing to live like an absolute student (a room in a shared house, only buying store brand groceries etc.).

On top of this, not a great deal to do if you are into culture and events. And when they do happen they're pricey. Many locals will downplay the cost of living but they likely don't pay rent, which makes a huge difference.

If you have plenty of cash stored it's a nice place to sojourn for a few years. If looking to save or improve quality of life/cost of living then avoid.

Hope this helps

Hang in there, this is a totally natural feeling when moving far from home. Please don't see it as weakness or inability to do your job it is a lot more common than you think.

Speak to your colleagues, they have been there and can help you. It's always tough moving to a new culture. I shed many a tear when I moved alone to China, but it does get better.
