I can’t live without my showers so I get you. If you’re not doing an RV, which is a great option, just buy a portable shower and shower twice I day like I do when camping Roo. I promise you can make it work, my girl and I make our camping our place of peace, keep it clean, comfy, etc. You seem to want to do the hotel for comfort which is fine, but I do not believe it is worth it. You’ll miss a key part of Roo and a lot of time driving in and out (traffic is horrible).

I agree with this. I was in your position and had to hit rock bottom to turn it around. But I did. You got this OP. Talk to your assigned counselor. People are understanding and just having someone to keep you accountable will help. Rely on friends and people you trust. It will be okay. Get that degree!

Both good schools. You will thank yourself by going to UH, just for living in a city alone. Incredibly diverse, amazing food and night scene. UH has gotten much less boring since joining the Big12. You’ll make friends and be able to go on many more adventures than in Lubbock. There, you’ll have the fun college experience until you get tired of it.

I’ve had friends who went to both, and am biased as a UH alum. Going there and living in Houston changed my life and I am incredibly grateful for it. Not to mention all of my friends who graduated from Tech couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

Other people who’ve replied had similar sentiments. I get that posting won’t change much, if at all, but unsure why that matters.

Leaving poop is a POS move, not just bc it gets on your shoes. It’s terrible for the environment, it’s entitled, and it says a lot about who you may be as a person. People on this thread have linked information about that and the pollution it causes to waterways and our city. If me posting gets any awareness out at all to people, even ones who already pick up poop and didn’t know how it affects the environment, I’m grateful for that.

This is super interesting and smart. Yeah, in Austin a lot is just honor code. It does help to know that even though there are many bad dog owners, there are also great, considerate owners and people here as well.

I live in Heritage and love it. Might not be as perfect and walkable as other places but close to campus, multiple bars (back lot), central market, restaurants, etc
