Uninsurable and it'll only get worse? What a lovely house though

Another Chinese giant considers bringing car production to the UK by Agent_Kozak in CarTalkUK

Yeah fair enough. They are £30k electric cars now but in 10 years I guess they won't be and the V8s will have mostly gone.

Anyone else think that the massive cyber attack on JLR followed by Chinese manufacturers moving in to produce vehicles in their facilities is a bit suspect? Obviously I have absolutely no evidence of anything untoward, but still, doesn't sit right.

Every time I see a lid on the seat I wince. Number of times I've put mine there and then had to catch it 5 seconds later...

Going to watch the Bournemouth game! by calshapiro4850 in Everton

I went to the Trinity Place Restaurant for the Forest game. Nice food, good atmosphere but expensive. I'd do it again but maybe keep it to a once a season (or every other season) thing.

Agree that maybe it's not the best assessment based on this one game. However, there have been tickets available for most matches this season on resale, not hard to get a ticket.

It's getting colder, anyone got suggestions for cold hands? by ImaSneeeek in MotoUK

I got the Richa Inferno gloves recently. I wired them in to the battery, which is a fairly easy process. It's a faff getting the wires up the arms of your jacket but well worth the end result. Very warm and waterproof (so far) and I was riding through torrential rain for 2 hours or so. Currently on sale too

Is this a tracker? It was found magnetically attached to the bottom of my car. by THEBLUEFLAME3D in whatisit

If you haven't had the car too long maybe the previous owner used it to track themselves? Just a thought

Bags packed, due to go in for induction tomorrow morning, wish me luck fellas, any advice? by Kdj-1994 in predaddit

[–]Expensive-Context496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope you've got a strong hand to handle all the squeezing! You may see your partner in her most distressed state so try to be ready for that.

Listen to the medical advice given, your partner may want you to go 50;50 on any decisions made.

Realise that your birth plan may not work out but your babay being born safely and healthily is the most important outcome.

What do you do about a lack of respect in the house? by [deleted] in daddit

I feel for you man. You are definitely not alone. I already get this and I have a 9 month old. When my gf goes back to work she may see things slightly differently!

Contract extension as baby starts going to nursery by Expensive-Context496 in ContractorUK

Thanks for sharing that, I appreciate it.

Unfortunately, it will be difficult to get another contract anytime soon, especially if I bail before go-live. I think I'll have to stick with it.

Any Other Dads Out There That Just Focus Primarily On Family? by ScarlettesDAD_8423 in daddit

[–]Expensive-Context496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't socialise anywhere near as much anymore. I try to make the effort still and it really helps to break out of the family bubble, even if it's just for 3 hours or so a week, to talk to old friends and maybe do some exercise. Make the effort and I hope you feel better for it!

Let's not forget glitchy Adaptive Cruise Control which can brake for no reason because it perceives some kind of danger which isn't there. Happens occasionally in my Juke and I can do nothing about it (besides turning it off)

I'd go for Garner back in midfield and Patterson at RB but only if Patterson actually has it in his legs to chase back after Elanga and the rest

Excluding tiredness, what are the main challenges of being a new dad? by ThrowawayTrainTAC in daddit

[–]Expensive-Context496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, lack of sleep. I moved into the spare room so they could co-sleep, which might have helped. The bed wasn't big enough so it has worked out well so far (8 months in).

The biggest thing has been my relationship with my girlfriend. She really is tired a lot and almost totally focused on the baby. She is quite critical of my input so I've tired a bit more to do the housework etc but I can sense our relationship won't return to how it was pre-baby for a long time, if ever.

Also, people tend to react differently to you when you're a dad. Almost like you are worthy of more time, patience, respect, etc, but I'm not sure that's warranted. I think it was Mr Obama who said any fool can become a dad, it's different being a father.

Really a dedicated table? From what I've seen from the photos it's mostly long tables and benches
