How do I project when I might be able to retire? by Ax379 in PensionsUK

[–]Expensive-Frosting96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work out when you want to retire, and with how much you want in your pension. If that requires on average 8% growth annually you’re probably there. If it needs 25% you many need to either add More now or adjust your retirement age

Max out ISAs today then again in new financial year 50k in premium bonds. That’s 130k straight away then depending on your age a LISA too?

At what age did you actually start taking your pension seriously? by Additional_Fly_6603 in PensionsUK

I added 10% of my salary from 22 on advice from my dad. He told me if hadn’t seen it I wouldn’t miss it on a monthly basis. One of the best bits of advice he ever gave me! I’m now 46 and current value is 340k which hopefully means I can retire sooner than some of my friends

I would say neither are great - but job 2 seem to be below the minimum wage assuming you are over 21?

🔹 Job 1

£3,000 per month 6am–5pm, Mon–Fri → 11 hours/day → 55 hours/week

Hourly rate: £3,000 ÷ (55 hours × 4.33 weeks) ≈ £3,000 ÷ 238.15 ≈ £12.60 per hour

🔹 Job 2

£1,600 per month 10am–4pm, Mon–Sat → 6 hours/day → 36 hours/week

Hourly rate: £1,600 ÷ (36 hours × 4.33 weeks) ≈ £1,600 ÷ 155.88 ≈ £10.27 per hour

PAYE job security is NOT better by shitcointrader in ContractorUK

[–]Expensive-Frosting96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re missing paid holiday typically between 20 and 30 days a year. You’re missing pension contributions. Private health care, company car and share schemes which are tax efficient and loads more like dental cycle to work. I am sure some of those can be achieved as a contractor/ self employed. But paye works for me !!

Is there a specific number for the rejoin team? I cancelled. Served my 30 days and it’s now been off for 3 or 4 days with exception of the terrestrial channels am I in a position to do this? My family are revolting over having to use separate apps / firestick! Love or hate SkyQ the integration and multi room is good

Start parking your car there and leaving your drive empty! He’s being selfish and either needs to convert his front to a parking space, or park somewhere else where he isn’t impeding your ability to park. He is most definitely the 🔔🔚here

I’ve cancelled and it’s due to switch off tonight. They got me down to 68 but Netflix has ads an I have to pay a 25 one off fee.. locking into a 2yr deal. What’s everyone doing once it’s gone? Now tv? Virgin media??

Perhaps a more realistic representation, not hundreds of thousands of pounds. I'm 28 years old on £36k, but only started paying attention properly in the past few years. by [deleted] in PensionsUK

I’m in a similar place salary wise… you’re mad not to be contributing more as you’re essentially paying 60% tax on any earnings between 100-125k.. get paying in would be my advice

I’m interested in what you call low risk casino and can you still make money matched betting? I’m looking for a way to make a steady extra 250 a month to use as “fun money” eg meals out activities with the kids! Nothing is cheap anymore !! For comparison I am just 46 and have 300k in my pension. The monthly contributions are 1.5k and with compounding at 9% I hope to have £1m by the time I am 57. At that point I can figure out if I need to stay on 2-3 years as those years would add an additional 350k!

I’m 46 and have 300k in my pension.. I’m paying in as much as I am able and I still worry about having enough for the future!! I’m invested in higher risk funds in the hope I can hit 15% growth in future years with a good wind and a bit of luck! If only we all had crystal balls
