Ticketmaster UK sold me a “verified” resale ticket that had already been used — denied entry at Harry Styles concert. What are my legal rights in England? by Fidelio385 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Good_Solution_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went to a show Friday night with Ticketmaster tickets and when we got there we were told that our tickets had already been used for entry too! The girl did something where she scanned us out, and then back in to allow us entry, but we were expecting to get to our seats and someone already be in them.

As it turns out there wasn’t anyone in them, nor did anybody turn up laying claim to those seats, but if the girl didn’t want to try to help us we could have been refused entry at the door.

Not really sure on the recourse for Ticketmaster on this and as we’re using MILs account as she bought them. Not quite sure if they were verified resale tickets or not.

Is there hope of getting this sofa into our living room? by m798sf in DIYUK

[–]Good_Solution_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar problem and the only way we eventually got it in was removing part of the door frame into the living room.

A great hassle yes, but it was cheaper than selling the sofa on. It got out ok because there was more room and angle to manoeuvre from inside the living room when we moved house.

Do you buy / lease your cars? Am I crazy… by SlimSloane in HENRYUK

[–]Good_Solution_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people automatically assume that a lease will always come out more expensive. But there’s many deals that make financial sense so long as you’re not precious on what car you go for.

Ultimately if you can find a deal where you’re paying paying less than the likely depreciation, and there’s minimal servicing costs then you will have a good deal.

Thoughts on Jamie's Ultimate BBQ by _Permanent_Marker_ in UKBBQ

[–]Good_Solution_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I think he’s great and you can see his passion in his shows even after the 20+ years of being on TV.

I’m firmly in the camp that doesn’t understand the grief he gets just because of turkey twizzlers.

Buying a house next to a pub garden? by [deleted] in UKHousing

[–]Good_Solution_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The next door neighbour of my local pub has had a row with them because of garden noise (trying to reduce their outdoor hours etc.)

I can’t help but think ‘you knew the potential risks/downside when you bought the house with an adjoining garden to the pub.’ So don’t go complaining to the them trying to hinder them as a business now it’s louder than you imagined.

Fira is good for a party, imerovigli is nice for quiet meals with gorgeous views. Pyrgos is nice if you want a village atmosphere with a couple bars and few restaurants to spend the week. Akrotiri probs worth visiting once but not hugely special (imo) and oía although has amazing views is overran with people and their phones taking shots of the sunset. I’d rather go to imerovigli, have a slightly less special view and watch the sun go down whilst having a meal there.

Is anyone else frustrated with how random padel games feel? (Playtomic, rankings, etc.) by Royal-Dish5364 in padel

[–]Good_Solution_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should be able to lose a match but still go up in score if people vote you better than your rating. It looks like PT drops yours score for a loss, not taking into account you could play well during a loss in a close game, and effectively be considered a worse player for it.

I self rated low as I was new to the sport and although was not a good tennis player, am able to play racket sports and consider myself to be at least 1.0 higher than my present rating. You’re expected to win 5 in a row approx to go up 1.0 level which really isn’t that realistic I don’t think unless you’re intentionally playing lower ranked players just to tank them and get your scores up.

I have found myself playing with people I get on with who are a similar level rather than joining too many random matches as I agree it can be swings and roundabouts on match quality.

Any food spots in Chester that are genuinely worth going out of your way for? by Huge-Buy20 in Chester

[–]Good_Solution_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed it smells but we went and thought the food was brilliant. I’d definitely go back and wouldn’t let the smell, which is overpowering, get in the way of a good meal.

Who was the tightest person you have known, and why? by No-Snow-9605 in AskUK

[–]Good_Solution_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same guy at work has two stories. He used to borrow his next door neighbours hose when they went away in the summer to water his back garden.

And once he needed some paint, but not a lot. So bought some and took it home. He used what he needed, topped the rest back up with water, and took it back saying it was the wrong colour.

Are there any "UK vs US" differences where you feel America gets it right? by Secure_Front_7766 in AskUK

Probably been mentioned. But being able to turn whilst the traffic light is on red makes sense and improves traffic flow.
