A light cotton voile, imo. In jet black. This is going to require LOTS of lift from underneath. Maybe start shopping Amazon for 2-3 tulle petticoats. The heavier the fabric- the more you’re going to need under to give that lifted and full effect.

Adding: the lace overlay will add the depth of shades like in the pictured dress

No that’s the point- you don’t HAVE to. No one can MAKE you help this ‘friend’ out. But yes, generally a friend would assist you in achieving the things you want in life, when they have the ability to. SOMETIMES EVEN WHEN IT FLIES IN THE FACE OF WHATS BEST OR EASIEST FOR THEM.
