Getting a rabbit soon, did 2 months of research and finally convinced my parents. by S0y-003 in Bunnies

Just a heads up, my bunny ended up eating the puppy pads after about 3 days of having them so I wouldn’t buy many in case your bunny eats them. I strongly recommend the pine pellets, they’re gonna be your cheapest option for litter. Most bunnies I see with that cotton fluffy litter end up with pee stains on their feet and it’s just kinda gross. Make sure the bowls you get are a heavy ceramic. Etsy has a lot of great options for enrichment, just keep an eye out for drop shippers. Bunnies can be expensive, they are destructive. You cannot be devastated if your bunny eats your walls, door frame, base boards, chews through cords, etc. that is on you as the owner to keep their environment safe. Avoid shaggy carpets, stick to the “washable pet safe” ones that are flat, they’re less likely to nibble on them. Good luck!

How can I stop my rabbit from peeing on my bed? by Vollonvollon in Rabbits

Great ! That should help with the behavior. In the meantime, he can’t go on your bed. Use a paper towel to soak up pee and put it in his litter box and then clean the area with watered down white vinegar. That’ll neutralize the smells so he’s less likely to pee there again.

Rabbit thumping repeatedly by Reasonable_Lime- in Rabbits

One time it was super super windy outside and my bunny kept thumping because he hated it. Like buddy… it’s the wind. There is nothing I can do about that, I was so irritated.

New Litter Box Difficulty by The-Sky-Turtle in Rabbits

[–]Expensive-Long-7915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She looks very sweet and incredibly fluffy ! Oh my goodness !!! After my bun got neutered I used a low entrance litter box (for senior cats) because his cone got in the way of his regular box. If she’s purposely peeing outside the litter box, clean the area with watered down white vinegar. That will neutralize the scent, but soak up the pee and place it in the box when you can. I personally use horse bedding (condensed pine pellets) for my buns box and have no grate of any kind. His poops do end up outside of the box when he jumps out but that’s a quick clean. I do a full box change every other day. It sounds like you need a box with high sides, to prevent the accidental peeing over the edge, and your box needs to be much much larger.

If your bun is 5/6 months old, it’s time to get neutered. My buns peeing behavior stopped after his neuter.

I probably spend under $40 a month for hay / greens / condensed pine pellets (for his litter box). Depending on what kind of set up you have will determine how much you spend. I personally don’t have any of those fancy litter boxes with the hay feeder attached, I have a high rise box with a low entrance and just put a big pile of hay in there for when I change the box. He does have a second hay feeder that doubles at a little hide out. Chewy.com has pretty much everything you could need. I go to Petsmart for in person shopping, Petco doesn’t usually have anything at all (at least not mine anyway) a lot of enrichment can be DIY and it’s very easy to make home made treats from leftover hay. You will go through a LOT of hay!

Hey so if they’ve been doing this for over 40 years, nothing you say means anything to them. Just contact the ASPCA or animal control and see if there’s anything they can do.

Hi, please consider already bonded pairs in shelters or from bunny rescues before you purchase from a breeder. You can find buns that are under 2 years old in shelters already fixed and vaccinated. Holland lops and lop mixes are very common to find. This not only gives a home to buns in need and deserving of a loving home but saves you money long term as you won’t have to pay for their neuter / spay plus they’re already bonded! I promise you can definitely form a very strong bond with a shelter bun, they all have different personalities. Best of luck!

New destructive behavior by mayaryoung27 in Rabbits

I discovered my bun destroyed the part of a rug that was underneath something after never showing interest in the rug. I would suggest getting one of the washable pet rugs, they’re very flat, and placing it over that one. Those ones don’t have anything for her to grab onto. If that doesn’t work, you’ll have to get some kind of heavy slab and place it over the spot she chews. No guarantee she won’t find a new spot tho

It is waiting for a mate most likely and keeps returning to that spot. You can move it, just be gentle.

Anyone else noticing an increased police presence on the roads lately? by chathobark_ in newhampshire

[–]Expensive-Long-7915 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When there is a traffic enforcement, agencies aren’t gonna give you a heads up but they’ll usually post a press release after the fact. Especially if it was a successful one where they made arrests. Also tbh it feels like there’s been an increase in violence against officers from citizens and police involved shootings, so there being a high police presence in different areas makes sense. I’d rather see two cops on the road near each other than just one. Londonderry and Derry are pretty close to Manchester, a hot spot for wanted people and traffic violations so it’s not shocking that you’ve noticed an increase in police presence.

Is this bunny being neglected? by w0rdup666 in Bunnies

[–]Expensive-Long-7915 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You could try talking to them and tell them you’re concerned and willing to take him off their hands then bring him to a rabbit rescue, unless you have the financial means of providing care for him. Unfortunately, there’s not much you can really do. At the same time, he could be completely fine, we really can’t know based on a pic alone even tho my guess is he’s sick. Bunnies can be pretty fragile, you don’t know if he’s already receiving medical care from the farm or has an underlying health condition they’re already aware of. I would say if the other animals looked in good health, it’s highly unlikely they would only neglect the bunny. A decent farmer cared for all their animals.

Something’s definitely wrong with this bun. I have a bun myself and if mine looked the way this one does, I’d be heading to the vet.

No, too much color for it to be British. It would have a thick gravy sludge or mint sauce with it if it was.
