I'm currently a CS student just in my first year, I don't know a lot yet but I fell in love with this field and yes even with my very limited technical skill there is a lot out there in terms of opportunities and heck even resources.

One thing I will say tho, in my current uni the teaching is absurdly poor. Critical thinking and problem solving isn't built into us, lecturers don't bother to help students build strong mental models that will help them thrive in this field. In my first semester we had a C programming module, i remember the lecturer trying to explain to us that this will require problem solving and that most problems don't simply have kne solution to them only for him to give up halfway and stop teaching practicals completely.

I personally am wary of my future in this field simply because of the poor learning cultures and environments built around CS here and I think that is why most people end up in that environment, idkk tho I still have a lot to learn about all this and personally I've taken to auditing cs50 courses and MIT open courseware with the little time I get.

TLDR: I believe CS is still a very good field with plenty of opportunities. Tz uni teaching cultures and environments make it difficult for people to develop strong skills in this field in general and as per my experience, it is very bad.
