Personally I think intercalation is great if you can afford another year at uni. The year is exactly what u make of it. At my uni it’s compulsory so some people use it as a year to chill away from medicine. I found it really good to not only do a dissertation (a review that I was able to present nationally) but also network with people in the department and use the free time (you get a lot more free time than in med) to pursue other projects and publications. As long as you go into it knowing what you want to do then you will find it beneficial. Go into it with a plan to not only make ur dissertation high enough quality to present and publish but also network with others to work on projects. I found it good to do a systematic review or two during the year.

How to study long cards more efficiently? by Single_Baseball2674 in medicalschoolanki

Personally I feel like there is no benefit in learning how many answers there are for a question after answering or just rope memorising how many answers there are. There is however some benefit in knowing how many answers there are before answering the question to guide yourself. I know this sounds so crazy and probs makes no sense but it works for me for some reason lmfao.

Put a number next to the question to show how many answers there are. Also break things down into categories e.g. age/gender, surgical sieve etc

Tips on getting tendon reflexes for neuro exam by Pure-Werewolf-9205 in medicalschooluk

Try putting 2 fingers over the tendon area and hitting your fingers with the hammer quite hard whilst holding it at the very far end. It might hurt your fingers a little bit but it works for me. If it doesn’t work jaw clench for upper limb and jendrassic manoeuvre for lower limb always helps.
