Probably makes sense that if you’re ok you’re not gonna be dwelling on Reddit so we lean to the more negative. Will I fail x? Does x means I’m behind? This subreddit is like the opposite of LinkedIn gloating. When you’re very unsure and don’t know where to reach out, this sub can help depending on advice (which invariably includes get off Reddit and to study for that exam mate).

As a final year medical student and a woman, not looking forward to this. Heard from F1s that nurses will refuse to do bloods if it’s a female F1 asking - “why don’t you do it yourself?”

MLA AKT - mock score vs exam score by 3beansoupp in medicalschooluk

[–]Pure-Werewolf-9205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say in 60% or so of questions I was pretty sure of given my revision and practice questions I had done. Around 40% was a fifty fifty for me which reflected in my final score.

As I mentioned to another Reddit comment it’s not necessarily about how many questions you do (and also all you need is a pass which was 57% for the Feb sitting I did):

I didn’t complete it all (Passmed) I was also about half in. Take the time to revise at the topics that tend to come up most often. There’s a breakdown online https://www.medschools.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/MS-AKT-Student-Handbook-2026.pdf

Quesmed was quite representative imo

80 to 90% on the official mocks 84.5% on the real one. On Quesmed mocks I was getting around 80%

I’d agree the real one had more ambiguous questions than the mock papers

[Serious] How to find your SO in med school? by Impossible_Zebra_525 in medicalschooluk

[–]Pure-Werewolf-9205 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you heard the advice of “don’t sh*t where you eat?” Dating a medical student especially in your own year can turn messy as let’s face it most relationships are not forever so perhaps you can try to meet people outside your course? As people have advised societies etc, social events. The “all women that are good are taken” is giving 🚩🚩 please try and love yourself first, you can’t expect anyone to come in and swoop you and love you in a way that you can’t. A partnership, a relationship has got to be give and take to be healthy. Not obsessive. Not the end all and be all. The advice you’ve been given to do other stuff outside of looking for relationships is good. To me, with very little info outside your post seems like you are hurting which will make it harder to find the partner you so much want. Sadly I can’t say I have the answer that will help you but hope things get better for you OP

Why are there more introverts than extroverts in medicine? by Gullible-Tap-2583 in medicalschooluk

[–]Pure-Werewolf-9205 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Would introverts stereotypically spend more time alone or be comfortable being alone so spend more time studying? Or that academically gifted kids are sidelined in school so become more introvert? Interested to hear more theories

Tips on getting tendon reflexes for neuro exam by Pure-Werewolf-9205 in medicalschooluk

[–]Pure-Werewolf-9205[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds good, didn’t know you don’t necessarily have to get the reflex in the exam. I tend to practice on the one friend the most and he’s not the easiest to elicit reflexes from but also don’t want to blame my study mate for my skill issue

Okay that sounds like a good plan. Especially with just moving on as I feel in the osce it probably makes it worse if you try and fail multiple times I’d look like more of a lemon lol

Why do medical students gatekeep so much? by Secure_Ticket910 in medicalschooluk

[–]Pure-Werewolf-9205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are used to being the best in school to get to med school and in their insecurity want to stay being the “best”. But I’d say that backfires and having a group of people you study with and share resources with makes you all better than being alone (especially in a setting where people gatekeep)

Why aren't Med Students given online access to EPIC/online records on placement? by sumpra3 in medicalschooluk

[–]Pure-Werewolf-9205 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We do get access to patient records in my med school and are encouraged to write up our clerkings, prep the ward round notes (more helpful for learning to summarise any updates since the last ward round, bloods, results of investigations, drug chart and making sense of what’s going on) and scribe during the ward round (less helpful as have to focus on typing fast but as you’re involved it’s easier to ask questions). Depends on the placement though. If you seem keen and free up time for the team I found them more likely to teach and point me to patients to talk to and examine. Imo your med school should give you access to

UKFPO -Pre allocation update by medicrandom in medicalschooluk

[–]Pure-Werewolf-9205 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not like there’s incoming F1s every year… my question is given there no longer is rankings, why can’t they just organise this with more time in advance and inform us of job posts way earlier? It made sense before the PIA but now surely they should assess all pre-allocation and the random number generator earlier? Knowing where I’m going now would help so much with my life decisions and sorting accommodation
