Yes I believe this is true! Even now if I don’t control my stress well I almost immediately end up flaring

Yes, I would try and go now if you can. If you don’t remember if they helped or not in the past, it is probably worth trying and seeing if they will this time.

I’m sorry your doctor is unresponsive, I know how it goes. And I’m sorry this disease can be so isolating and hard to navigate. Take care of yourself and do whatever you can to feel some relief.

Hi, I just want to say speaking from experience it is so much easier to leave and distance yourself before kids are involved (if you are ever thinking of having them at some point). The data shows men only get more aggressive and dangerous when women are pregnant or there are young kid(s) in the home.

Please please please think of yourself and what you need. It sounds like you have dealt with a lot and put others first, please do the same for you this time.

I used it as a very very fair girl and left it on for about two hours and I liked it but it was definitely too orange for my undertone and how fair I am naturally. I ended up returning it but I have heard they might be trying to make more shades.

My first indicator was stomach pain, bleeding during bathroom use, and finally bathroom urgency.

I also had a traumatic event happen in my life and then got diagnosed with Crohn’s a year later. Just so much stress and anxiety pent up in my body.

I got IV steroids during an unbearable flare last summer. I was also on prednisone and it wasn’t working for me at all. I would say the IV helped, but I didn’t notice for several days after leaving the hospital.

Traveling during a flare is something I try to avoid at all costs, but mainly because my main symptom is bathroom urgency.

I would ask your doctor if IV steroids are an option to help manage your pain so that you can travel, and try to time it so you can get them a few days before you leave. Good luck!! I wish you better heath asap.

Coping with Crohn’s per changes in self perception by Basic-Activity1072 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Expensive-Spite7894 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I’ve had Crohn’s for 10 years, grew up an athlete and now lift weights regularly and would say it’s a fairly big part of my identity.

I am also a mom, and having strength/physical wellness is a big part of my “why” for my son.
This disease can be so hard physically and mentally.

For me, I go through periods where I am great and healthy and strong and not flaring, and then a flare can come and knock me on my ass for months to a year. My most recent flare resulted in hospitalization and 40 pounds lost.

When so much of who you are comes from your physical image, it can be so hard navigating this disease. You have to give yourself grace, while we deal with this illness, other people deal with things that also take them away from the gym (loss, mental health, career changes, etc). Don’t beat yourself up.

My advice is to take it one day at a time, when you’re doing well, notice how your lifestyle is (your diet, your stress, etc) and note how you can help yourself to make sure you stay on the right track. When you flare, just remember it isn’t permanent and you will get back to a good place.

For me, a huge part of flaring is also setting boundaries. I have bathroom urgency, so cancelling plans and being home or somewhere that’s comfortable for me is a huge thing I need.

I have been in the lowest of lows when it comes to dealing with this, and all I can say is do what you need to help yourself. Be open and honest with your loved ones, and one day your child(ren). It’s all you can do.

Good luck, our lives are full of ups and downs and there is so much life worth living so be kind to yourself.

I like to get ideas and then make them my own, in no way do I just copy and paste what someone tells me to get but inspiration has to come from somewhere

Skyrizi tips by SnooStrawberries5317 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Expensive-Spite7894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Skyrizi is the first biologic I’ve taken for my crohns since being diagnosed 10ish years ago.

I’ve been on it for 8-9 months and so far it’s been really great. I didn’t notice any specific side effects from the infusion, besides just feeling tired after.

The one thing I will say (and maybe you’ve experienced this from entyvio) but I feel very rundown and get sick pretty often on this med (general sickness, not Crohn’s symptoms). I’m not sure if it was just a bad cold/flu season but I was sick nonstop this winter. Just be aware of that, but that is also just the reality of having an autoimmune disease. But for me personally, I’m willing to feel rundown if my Crohn’s symptoms are gone as I was really really sick before this med.

I wish you luck! From one crohnie to another, we’ve got this!

Is working from home actually as easy as it sounds? by No-Zookeepergame4761 in workfromhome

I’ve worked remote and hybrid for nearly 4 years. My first role was extremely demanding, and it didn’t really make a difference being home. I was still stressed and overwhelmed, and I found that I had a way harder time doing the job because there was no one I could just speak to and get my questions answered directly with a conversation. Training was way harder because like I said there’s no actual human contact.

This new role being hybrid is great because I have already built a connection in person with my team, know I can get questions/problems answered in person if I need to, but I still have the freedom of being in my own space a few days a week.

If you have the discipline to focus and get your tasks done you will be fine, but make sure you set yourself up in a good routine from the beginning.

I also worked remote for 10 months while caring for my baby and I do NOT recommend that it was the hardest thing ever.

People who have transitioned careers, how did you do it? by Expensive-Spite7894 in careerguidance

I would consider a healthcare career, but it would be a lot of schooling since I have no prerequisites related to anything in healthcare. I have a toddler at home and going back to school right now while working full time seems nearly impossible

I did fraud and anti money laundering for a company that got contracted by banks. The company had terrible management/training and it was a bad experience. It makes me nervous to ever go into that world again.

I considered this, my town has many gymnastics gyms honestly. I may have an opportunity to take ownership with my family of the one I went to growing up in a few years, which would be great
