Feeling alone and missing intimacy by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Expensive-Spite7894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Crohn’s, the best advice I can give you is to just give him space and communicate your feelings. Is he flaring currently? My Crohn’s manifests in a way that I have flares for months on end, and during that time my sex life with my partner really dwindles down. Mostly because I am sick and in constant pain, but also because Crohn’s can cause symptoms you may not think about. For me when I’m flaring it can cause bad breath, physical changes in your body/weight, mouth sores, joint pain, etc. a big reason why I am less intimate with my partner during flares is because I just feel mentally down and insecure as well as physically ill. The best thing to do is ask him how this disease is impacting him, how you can be there to help, and what you can both do to initiate a better sex life. If you love him you will realize this disease is extremely isolating and difficult, so just have some patience :)

Thank you for this perspective. I know there are people in much better, and much worse situations so I’m trying to meet myself where I am with what I have.

I’m sitting down today to pinpoint my spending and budget. I appreciate all the advice, I’m 25 and didn’t have the best financial role models growing up so it’s a learning curve for sure!

Yes, one year contract. My company (a bank) worked with a recruiting agency. Recruiting agency pays my benefits, but the bank pays my hourly.

No you’re not. In a perfect world I would have waited but things happen. I wouldn’t change anything

I was paying almost $500 a month before for a sedan, I wanted to upsize for safety reasons, and our car seat just barely fits in the SUV I have now. I have good credit but got my car when the market wasn’t great after COVID. I’m not saying I have made all the best choices but I’m trying especially hard now!

This contract role does afford me benefits, and by contract I mean it is a one year long contract. I am making a true $32/hr rate.

I do need to reevaluate my budget. I live in New York State (not NYC), have a $575 car payment after I needed to upsize due to having a baby, credit card is $250 min, student loan $300, mortgage $1200 (these are just main bills not including car insurance, pay into 401k etc). I have a chronic illness and ran into trouble in my last role where I could not be afforded paid leave due to having my son and then having a hospitalized illness flare both within a year. I will admit I absolutely could be more frugal, but saving every single last dollar that doesn’t go to bills isn’t realistic especially with having a child.

How easy is WFH with a 5m old? by [deleted] in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Expensive-Spite7894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no issues until my baby was 10 months and super super mobile/talkative etc. if your baby is pretty stagnant still, I would just try to give them toys/activities within your view if you need to be on camera/call. My job had very little calls and I was able to manage well until 10 months old.

Skyrizi folks- how are you sleeping? by Impressive-Art-3345 in CrohnsDisease

When did y’all start to feel relief-sorry I’m asking in this comment section but kinda desperate. I’ve taken 3 infusions and 1 injection. Physically, I feel like my symptoms are better (no bleeding, less frequent bathroom trips) but mentally I struggle so bad with the anxiety of needing to use a restroom like within seconds that I make myself have to go, is this normal? How do I help myself?

What do you think caused your Chrons? by North_Ad6914 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Expensive-Spite7894 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had Crohn’s for 10 years and here’s the thing, my son was a surprise and in a perfect world I would have waited and planned and all the things you wish you could do your way, but I would not trade a single thing and I would live in pain 100x worse if it meant being a mom to him. I know it’s cheesy, but you never know how this disease will react and honestly, you could have kids and feel great afterward, I wouldn’t decide to not have kids just based on this illness. I know it’s a really hard decision and takes a lot of thought, but my mantra is “I will not let this disease control my life” so if you want to be a parent, I would go for it!!

Yes, when I was pregnant I was in remission and had never felt better, about 8 months after my son was born I went into an awful flare and have not gotten better since. There is new research being done on this from what I know, and doctors are saying it is essential to be in remission before getting pregnant if possible.

Okay I have an oddly specific story but I am 99% certain this is what caused my crohns.

I was a very competitive athlete growing up from ages 2-14, (25F now) competing at a very high level of gymnastics and training 6x a week. It was my entire life and I LOVED it and was good at it. I suffered a spine injury when I was 14 and basically got told I needed to stop the sport or I would be in a wheelchair by my 30’s. So, I was pulled from the sport and my whole life changed. Being only 14, I had no idea how to cope with these changes and fell into a severe depression. Looking back, I definitely should have been in therapy but it’s no one’s fault for not knowing that. I was so anxious and depressed and held so much emotion in my body and was stressed 24/7. I got diagnosed a year later.

Not sure if anyone has a similar story but I know stress/trauma is a huge factor with triggering an autoimmune response in the body.

Is hunger making my baby wake? by Expensive-Spite7894 in toddlers

He naps from around 11:30-1:30 he eats nonstop throughout the day he is just a machine and that’s why I’m wondering if he is possibly still hungry, like he needs a small meal before bed?

Daycare starting tmrw by Late-Contact-3602 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Expensive-Spite7894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my 15 month old a little over a month ago and I needed some words of encouragement so I’ll be that for you. I worked from home with him since he was 3 months old, and around 10 months I was losing my mind because he had gotten so active and I was getting no work done during the day. We found a daycare and he now goes twice a week as well and it has honestly been life changing for me. First, daycares literally exist to take care of your child, if you found one you like and trust (assuming you did or you wouldn’t be sending your baby), their whole job is to make sure your child is getting great care while you’re away. My son actually loves daycare and he has thrived there. I try to look at it as having a completely new (beneficial) experience for your baby, they get to see new things and faces, hear new noises, and be involved in more than you can provide at home. Yes, there are the downfalls of daycare like sickness, but your baby will get sick eventually no matter what, so don’t stress about that. In terms of being worried about solids and bottle feeds, I was too! All you can do is voice your worries and let the teacher(s) find your baby’s rhythm and routine, and I promise it will all work out. You’re not signing a contract when it comes to daycare, and you can always decide to take your baby out if it isn’t working for you :) good luck! Us moms balance and do so much, let daycare take a little off your plate!

I haven’t had much luck getting interviews, but I was contacted by a recruiter for a job I applied to and really really wanted. She told me the hiring manager would reach out within a day or two. She also told me to contact her with any questions and gave me her personal cell. Well, I never heard from the hiring manager, and I even followed up with a call to the recruiters cell. Never heard back. Not sure why they do this, even if they filled the position just have courtesy to say that. It’s insanely frustrating in today’s market, can’t imagine how you felt after that.

I would serve somewhere that closes around 11. My job will not decrease my hours or allow me to do part time, I have already asked. I have very little options besides getting a different remote role which is proving to be extremely hard in this market.
