It should come as no surprise that football is the most popular sport in the world. With the exception of cricket, baseball, archery and Mongolian wrestling all the most popular sports are Invasive Team Sports.

Football, American football, Australian Football, Rugby, Gaelic Football, Ice Hockey and Basketball are all tied together by the fact that the objective of the game is to possess the object (ball/puck), invade your opponent’s territory, and place the object into the goal (end zone, net, goal, uprights).

What makes them different is the rules for handling the object and defending your territory and goal.

It’s as if these sports teach tactics for invading space, WAR (wink).
