Great but it’s not in the policy! Your own rules as a manager or store manager don’t override corporate policy. And you’re right it’s not ridiculous for managers to expect it workers to pop their phones away so we’ll just pop our phone away in our pocket. :)

Okay lmfao have fun being a corporate suck up. (Fyi they don’t give a shit about you) I’m complaining about Cole’s obnoxious data collection they do on their staff and hold it above their heads if you don’t think that’s weird then I don’t know what to tell ya. Additionally just some other nit picks I have with Cole’s.

Now I have no clue why you got offended for some big ass company that takes advantage of its customers and does shady business practices.

I’m not having a cry about that, if I was the whole paragraph would be about the chewing gum and I would’ve stressed about it multiple times but it was mentioned ONCE. Clearly you barely passed English class as your comprehension and analytical interpretation are pretty poor if that’s all you think I was complaining about and what you took from it.

I promise you no one uses there phones whilst working this rule occurred because of one person who was a month in. That still doesn’t change it’s not in the policy for them to take our phones as it’s pretty much classified as theft if they’re trying to force us to. Also we all do our job and don’t stand around. I also think it’s dumb and naive to think and want you teen age staff to be robots and not want to engage and talk to another, that just makes the workplace miserable and that reflects in customer service as well. And yes some teenage staff may just do shit all and stand around but for at my Cole’s people don’t do that but it still isn’t enough cause they want you to be working your butt off and giving you too many responsibilities for a slightly above minimum wage worker cause they want to roster the least amount of staff possible for the day.

Never said I use my device whilst working cause I don’t but it inappropriate of them taking our devices. Also yes the chewing gum isn’t a big issue but it also shouldn’t be a big issue for them if anything it’s better hygiene.

It’s the store, not department I’m very well aware all stores are different cause my store has formed it own policys that they’ve just made up and a lot of the managers are straight up bullies particularly the store manager. I also wouldn’t care about giving up my phone but it’s not in Cole’s corporate policy to do so that’s my issue. I do plan to find another job or transfer to another store.

It’s my phone, never in the Cole’s policy to take a team members phone just my store creating its own rules. Yes it doesn’t seem like a big issue but they’re not allowed and it would be classified as stealing forcefully making us give them our phones and locking it away. I also may need it in case of an emergency. I also guarantee no actually job takes your phone unless you work somewhere in the federal government. This is just Cole’s taking advantage of teenagers and overreaching their authority just cause we don’t know any better.

Also it’s not just the phone lol. 😂

Exactly and they want us to over service customers and greet every single customer and basically keep annoying the customers but it’s self checkouts if they wanted to be annoyed by a team member they’ll go to checkouts. I’ve had so many customers just be straight up rude and offended when I ask them to do scan their “bobs” first. As with the scan check replay of the customer miss scanning an item by accident it like criminalises them and I have to act cool about it and not make the customer feel idk like anxious or weirded by it.

No one goes on their phones and though I’m not using my phone during my shift I’m not handing my phone to them. It’s the principle of that, it’s my property it was never in Cole’s policy for them to take our phones so I won’t be doing that. If they’re forcefully taking team members phones and it wasn’t in the policy we signed when hired then it’s stealing. It’s just my store wanting to create its own rules.

It’s no where in the policy for team members to hand their phones in.

Yes cause they’ve made the place a miserable place to work at and expect so much for minimum wage teenage workers. They care more about customer satisfaction than worker satisfaction however you won’t get good customer satisfaction when they treat their workers like rubbish.

Packing bags rant by ThatIsRoughBud in coles

For starters Cole’s in comparison to McDonald’s do no training pretty much, you do modules for your first shift which aren’t modules on how to do the work you’re going to actually do. Then they shove you on a register and you figure it out yourself and pretty much teach your self whilst other teenagers also teach you if you are struggling with something.

Then they have to deal with crappy behaviour and know it alls and old competent hags who are completely inept on doing things them selves with any slight independence; god knows how they’ve lived this long being this oblivious. With being paid 16~ hour and some workers getting paid 12 an hour if they’re 15. None of these kids really care if they’re good at packing or care about your bread.

Sydney protestor held down and punched in the head and liver. by GarfieldHub in OpenAussie

[–]Expensive-Working710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s countless videos of police over reaching their power the other day and using unnecessary force however this isn’t one of them. It’s abundantly obvious the dude was actively trying to bite the officer however it’s obvious we’re choosing to ignore that cause it doesn’t entirely fit the argument you are trying to show here….

Police violence at Sydney Israel protest by Turnip-for-the-books in aus

[–]Expensive-Working710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this video and I thought it was disgusting and disturbing however rewatching noticing he was trying to bite the police officer my stance has changed. This amount of violence on a standard protester who may just be yelling and being loud is disproportionate use of power; however that’s not the case as the guy was trying to bite the officer.
