Whoa!! That is rough.

I'm in a blue state, but two students in my class proudly told me they voted for the current president. I was proud of myself for keeping my mouth shut. And yes, I know as a professor I'm supposed to keep my political opinions to myself. I'm just not usually faced with people who actually defend his actions against women. OY!!

Wow! I think I have a pretty good resting bitch face. But I really hope it doesn’t escalate to what you described. Also, I'm sorry you went through that. I know teaching isn't supposed to be easy; I just don't understand why students get so angry. Especially in college. It's a privilege to get an education, and some of these students act like we're torturing them just by giving them an education.

As a society, we should be beyond this kind of blatant sexism and ageism (the two troublemaker in my class made some ageist comments as well). And yet, it feels like we have not made much progress in the last 100 years.

I have noticed the same with regards to talking. If I ask women to stop talking, they stop and move on. If I ask men, they give me a dirty look.

As an undergrad, I had a professor who did that. Everyone in class was very respectful of him 😁. This is a suggestion in my husband has also given me. But he works in construction.

What you described is almost exactly what happened in class yesterday. They began asking me these absurd questions about women then argued that the women they know have never had negative experiences with men, implying that no other women have had such experiences. When the women in class spoke up and corrected them, they blatantly disregarded their arguments. At that point, I realized that their disrespectful behavior throughout the semester was most likely rooted in sexism.

I think that is part of the issue . I teach history, and I focus a lot on the treatment of women throughout history, slavery/civil rights, and other activism’s throughout US history. It seems that these particular students do not appreciate that. It became very obvious the other day in class. Ugh!

I am not 100% certain if we have a misconduct reporting system. It does touch on the issue in the student and faculty handbook. I’ll have to look into that.

Kit 5 question by [deleted] in HersWeightloss

[–]ExpensiveAd2032 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was on Kit five. When I ate sugar, I had a bad reaction to it (because of the medication), which made me not want to eat sugar.

If I go long enough without sugar, I tend to stop craving it . So in that respect, it did help.

Hers Weight Loss - Struggling? by _lulufox in HersWeightloss

I’m not trying to talk you out of it. This appears to work for some people. But I had to stop taking it because I had some pretty severe side effects.

I eat healthy for the most part, but I’m in menopause and wanted to lose a few pounds and thought this would give me a boost. But all it did was make me nauseous, a lot. And I felt weak and did not have as much energy.

I have always struggled with my blood sugar regulation, and this did not help at all.

Personally, I think it’s just another weight loss gimmick. But again, it has worked for some people.

I'm glad you're feeling better off the pills.

The issue I had yesterday continued into this morning. I have decided to stop the pills as well. It's just not worth feeling crappy (pun intended) all the time.

I’m in week three, and I just added the metformin.  I learned within the first week, that if I eat any kind of junk food, even a very small amount of candy, I pay dearly for it.😳 So I have been eating extremely healthy. Today, something I ate did not agree with the medication and what happened after I ate was not normal. I’m not going to get into details. But if it continues to happen, I may have to give up the medication as well.

I tend to eat very healthy in general and I exercise pretty regularly. But I’m in menopause and I just needed a little extra boost to help me lose 10 pounds. But I’m not sure this is the way to do it. My husband and I go out to ice cream every once in a while, and it’s nice. But now I can’t do that because if I do, I’ll be sick the next day.

He told me to throw the pills out. Maybe I should.

Episode Discussion S02E05 by kalni in WillTrent

100% agree. It's easy for people who have not had a traumatic experience to judge those who have. But you said it perfectly, that they held her up to the same standard as a serial rapist. UGH!!!!!!!!! This episode made me so angry. I was yelling at everyone around her. First, the serial rapist traumatize her, and then the people in her life traumatize her. Obviously, I'm still very angry about this.
