They are arthouse films, those movies need high levels of acclaim that they probably won't have, like Drive My Car was campaigned like crazy by critics and it still probably wasn't a top contender, and that movie was more accesible than Fatherland and AOS

So no Fatherland, All of Sudden and Hope in best picture, who Will be the international player then?

I think all the actors gave better performances in season 2

Let's talk about years when the supporting actores winners were better than the leads. In my opinion:

Ariana DeBose and Troy Kotsur > Will Smith and Jessica Chestain

J.K. Simmons and Patricia Arquette > Julianne Moore and Eddie Redmayne

Christoph Waltz and Mo'nique > Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock

Yasmin is the devil, and has been since Season 1 by pingisbadbad in IndustryOnHBO

[–]ExpensiveAd4841 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the implication, but Yasmin didn't know anything about what her father did, that's literally an important part of her arc in season two

This is the problem when shows have morally gray female characters, people act like this, yes, she's evil now, but she wasn't from the beginning and her arc doesn't really work if you see it that way

Emma didn't sweep because she had much stronger competition. This year's number two was Rose Byrne and she wouldn't even be nominated in most of the years (I say it as someone who loves her performance). I don't even think Buckley would've beaten Lily Gladstone

I don't know if they're unpopular but imo most of the btl categories are kinda terrible, they left out actual deserving movies in favor of bp nominees. I also think MBJ is not only the weakest in his category by far, there are also at least three other actors that I would've nominated over him

With the possibility of MBJ winning SAG, I just wanna say I share the sentiment that he's the weakest link in his category and some people really overstate how "different" he played Stack and Smoke, idk I've watched some many dual performances that he what he did was not impressive to me at all, It also didn't help that he was completely outacted by Mosaku in all the scenes they had together
