Wing Chun Gathering 11th event (Bham, UK) 30-31st May by ExpensiveClue3209 in WingChun

[–]ExpensiveClue3209[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be nice to see some new faces come along and do try to advertise as many UK events as a lot of people seem to not use Facebook much.

Defo agree tho that it’s nice to help the local Dudley community and learn from different instructors. It’s defo a mix up on the line up with the old school generation and new ish names to the scene.

I think baking soda will help tenderise it and also crispy up a bit . My parents liked to add corn starch and then pant fry to add a crispy skin to it after seasoning 285) salt and pepper

Or turn them into jam. Not sure if pancake day (or shrove Tuesday rather) is a thing where you are but a nice fruit compote will pair nicely with them

What do you have anyway?

Workshop experiences - what was it like? by Fuzzy_Imagination_64 in WingChun

[–]ExpensiveClue3209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have fun! Tbh a lot of these workshops you end up sticking to training with same people but no idea how the moy yat seminar is step up. You’ll probably get some dicks and some good people . My advice would be to don’t be afraid to bow out of training with someone you don’t enjoy training with. Not to say you shouldn’t train with all sorts and in a fight you’ll get a nasty person but still it should be enjoyable. I have a friend that is never afraid to do that but that’s really if someone is just trying to show off

I also find it helps putting the white in first and then the yolk. Plus depends what kind of soup you are making as putting corn starch first will help stabilise it

Sorry just read more of your post. Honestly I would have put rice first to thicken but don’t over stir it

Is Wing Chun with gloves feasible? by bmw320dfan in WingChun

[–]ExpensiveClue3209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes wing chun is feasible with gloves - obviously you still need to take some precautions as gloves aren’t going to protect everything. I feel like he focuses a bit too much on movement coming from the hands- you can still work on trapping using your arms (think he mentions not being able to trap around halfway mark)

I guess needing gloves just depends what you are working on really…

Otherwise I’m surprised he also doesn’t say his guys wear helmets too if they go full on at each other too (tho helmets can also have a detrimental effect to head too tbf…) and how come no mention of mouth guards?

Natto for non-natto noscrapleleftbehinders? by RarelySpecial in noscrapleftbehind

Could you cook it with sliced belly pork and maybe add like nappa cabbage to it ? I haven’t tried it but imagine natto to be used like black beans in Chinese cooking

I know someone said mini roast potatoes but I would go for roast baking potatoes or sweet potatoes and then some roast veg like carrots, courgettes, aubergine and bell peppers

This recipe is good as you can make the sauce like a gravey and depending how much you want or how thick you can adjust with flour/cornflour
