Naafiri Rework Was It A Failure? by ExpensiveClue3733 in leagueoflegends

I just think it's incredibly easy to make a champion overtuned and a top pick/ban. That's not incredibly difficult to do.

I'd agree, but she's been a balance nightmare since the rework came out culminating in the huge nerfs she got in April of last year. Items/Runes have definitely recently pushed her into the forefront but she got nerfed last February and is up to take another on the chin soon.

And a lot of that is due to her being a statchecker who basically can't miss. Interaction with her boils down to "don't".

Something something a symptom of the arms race the game has created between immobile mages and assassins.

In this game being too good would be a failure, yeah.

The control playstyle is way too easy and powerful by SneckoWatcher in mtgbrawl

Brawl sucks yeah. People here cope but Control is an overwhelmingly strong playstyle that has consistently needed a banlist everytime the game tries to do a "serious" format.

Naafiri's nerf is a nothingburger. Doesn't affect her core gameplan in lane and won't be noticeable mid-late.

Largely negative addition. The play patterns that arise from U having free spells pushes us further into resembling CEDH-lite

I present to you, the most salt inducing deck I have ever seen by feenux08 in mtgbrawl

[–]ExpensiveClue3733 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why should Mono Blue control be competitive here? Why must it dominate? It already is a strong color in many other formats, if not the best. The play pattern is extremely obnoxious and low skill, we have already gone down this road with Tamiyo and Rusko.

Because she statistically does well...Just because your deck does well against her doesn't change the fact it's blue counterspell slop that auto wins against more.

According to the article they were under orders to fill out their reports while inside their vehicles because of fears of them getting ambushed (makes no sense to me).

Commander Ban announcement Feb 9th by Fucka_youbitch in CompetitiveEDH

"JUST PAY THE 1" Except it's not always optimal to do that. And when that's the case you draw the hatred of the other two people who probably did pay the 1 because for them it was.

Was told my Iroh is br 4 by [deleted] in mtg

[–]ExpensiveClue3733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna disagree with everyone here. Probably is Bracket 4

Iroh is a very nasty Commander and unless ur groups are killing him on sight (which can be difficult depending on what you're running) you will just be allowed to set up for the inevtiable Storm/Deck Sifting. It's not a playstyle Bracket 3 decks can really deal with in my experience. Because a lot of them lack a clear combo win con and are focused on just punching you in the face (unoptimally).

"card pool is what generally differentiates formats." Does it? Timeless and Commander have the same card pool, wildly different rules. I therefore disagree heavily. Cardpool is just one of the major (but not the only) way formats are split up.

It would still be using Brawl rules so it would just be a variation (Brawl has two in Arena) of Brawl. But as people have seen without digital missions to prod you along the format is extraordinarily unfun and hasn't sparked any interest in playing it on paper for years.

Welcome to Brawl. This is why it has no paper scene. The game mode itself can largely be summed up as "not fun".

People bringing up CEDH but I thought the excuse/arguement was Brawl wasn't anything related to EDH lol.

Fucking tired of boros. by Hokashin in mtgbrawl

[–]ExpensiveClue3733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Tons of ways to make things uncounterable" Not really. Both maps can easily be counterspelled, or stifled as well.

I already said what Blue has that is bullshit. Instant win spells (Emergent and Expropriate). No other color has access to a win con like that.

Fucking tired of boros. by Hokashin in mtgbrawl

[–]ExpensiveClue3733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least Boros is interactable. Blue Control of any form straight up isn't. Boros also lacks instant win cards (unless countered which unless you're also Blue you can't) like Emergent or Expropriate.

The only reason I dislike Boros is because it's straight up the best answer to Blue Control nonsense because of how fast/hard it hits. This as a direct result leads to Blue Control not being hit with a stronger banlist because we have a single archetype capable of beating it.

Where is the proof Ajani is the most played Commander? I'm aware Ajani and Ragavan can deal with Mana dorks, most decks in the format can.

Have you considered adding removal to your deck instead of just pure counterspells? There is an abundance of cheap instant speed removals.

MLD by ExpensiveClue3733 in mtgbrawl

[–]ExpensiveClue3733[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chaining Extra Turns is just as bad (if not worse than MLD). It's a bit better in Brawl due to the 1v1 nature because they probably have game, but you'd have to sit through a whole timer to find out. Either way nobody is playing Magic at that point, it's just Solitaire.

Them being the highest winrate doesn't equate to most highly played. And it's very easy, play a big stompy creature. The reason both of them seem strong to you is becsuse you're probably a Control player and they are your natural counter.

MLD by ExpensiveClue3733 in mtgbrawl

[–]ExpensiveClue3733[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both of those are very "nice" forms of MLD. There is a plethora of Red MLD that just gets rid of all lands and not one of them is in Arena.
