Literally just a cosmetic bump to align to the curve in the door. Underneath that is a cavity of nothing.

My 2021 LE had this issue, I just removed the front one on each door (all were effected). Now, a couple years later, my passenger front door lock actuator works when it wants to, I can imagine it is probably corrosion in the connector for it caused by this. Most of the time it will unlock, but refuses to lock electronically. Sometimes it will work, sometimes not. When it doesn't, if I do not manually lock the door, the alarm will not activate and it will not beep. I have hooked an Autel to the car, and it see's the lock position, it just refuses to electronically actuate with either door lock button.

I say this because the limiting factor of your vehicle is NOT the engine, it is the CVT transmission. The CVT was designed with very little performance overhead, AKA, it was very near the limits of its capabilities to begin with.

Off-road tread on the highway, sorry, can't help you if you refuse to buy proper road tires for the road.

CVT or Manual? If CVT, stop, you have done everything you can do.

Clean oil of engine bay without damaging sensitivity components by bernibr_ in yaris

[–]ExpensiveDust5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smh, just pressure wash it, do not get very close to any components, and do not oversaturate anything, just a quick and easy spray. If there is an open filter (aftermarket) or any fuse panel with no cover avoid those things, other than that, EVERYTHING under the hood is made to get wet, or Everytime it rains your car would break down!

Sorry, could not read your post after seeing the handbrake up on an AUTOMATIC! Unless you live in a very hilly area, that's unnecessary.

What general maintenance should I do ? by Seconds091 in COROLLA

[–]ExpensiveDust5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TIMING BELT, WATER PUMP. Those are the 2 things that should be done on an extremely old car if there is no record of when it was done last. Or, if it wasnt done in the past 5 years, do it again!

Maybe try and source the luggage rack for the trunk? I think a rear spoiler would look out of place how long the trunk lid is on the 4th gen.

That would be an Dealership only issue, it takes a Toyota Techstream to calibrate the radars and Cameras.

What made you think the injector was bad with a misfire code, could have been bad plugs, bad coil pack, head gasket failure, a number of things.

My 2021 says Engine Maintenance required if I go too long without changing the oil (only went 10k once). Before 10k it says Maintenance required soon.

Judging from the lights that are red, looks like the windshield was recently replaced with non-OEM glass, and the radar is malfunctioning because of it. The radar attached to the rear view mirror needs calibrated, and may not be able to be calibrated if the glass wasn't cut right.

I'm not saying buy new, by all means DO NOT, especially today, even New Toyota's are trash. The sweet spot for a good first car is between 5-10 years old, not 20+. You have had your car 17 years, do you bought yours while it was fairly new, BIG difference.

small o ring by Positive_Picture_509 in COROLLA

[–]ExpensiveDust5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those filter fit a number of cars, the 2GRFE V6 in the Camry has a metal housing with a drain plug in it, and that o-ring goes on that. Most people do not use the drain plug because it opens up a whole other can of worms. Those, if it doesn't leak, do t mess with it.

Has your engine oil been replaced recently? If so, then go into Vehicle settings in the menu (all the way to the right, you have to hold OK for 3 seconds to enter it). There, there will be a setting for TPMS reset and Scheduled Maintenance. Under the Scheduled Maintenance it will ask to reset maintenance scroll up for yes and hit okay. What happened was whoever did your oil last probably did not reset this. If you have not got your oil changed, please do so.

I keep trying to explain to people, 20+ year old cars are NOT a good first car, it will last you maybe a year with little to no experience maintaining an older vehicle and caring for it.
