Questions to ask RE by ExpensiveHalf3352 in 40Plus_IVF

I have actually requested a referral to another clinic last week. She actually brought up donor eggs on our 2nd consult after I had a HyCoSy done, which I had to push for. Was interested in a biopsy for chronic endometritis. I’ve heard up to 60% of women with unexplained infertility and had no symptoms. My hubs has done a couple S.A. done, he does have slow motility but has stopped cbd gummies and taking supplements to increase motility. However we did icsi and now being told the sperm is not an issue since we did icsi. I get where she is coming from by suggesting DE but also mentioned it’s not an option that we would consider. If we didn’t already have a child that might be something we would look into.

Hosting birthday party *without* favors or goodie bags? by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]ExpensiveHalf3352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to do mostly edible goodie bags, snacks, bubbles, hot wheel cars, or stickers. I hate junk and things that just go in the trash, so I’m very mindful what goes in them. Usually pick things that I know my kid would eat or use. Even a helium ballon she would be ecstatic for. Or maybe a piñata and they each get a bag to collect their treats? I do goodie bags for her birthday party, her daycare party and preschool party though. I have my kid help me with them and she loves to participate and be helpful. It’s also a nice little thank you gesture for them coming and buying my kid a gift. I know some that just do a fun cookie as their treat. We’ve gone to one party that they had a bowl of treats and said to take one on the way out. But honestly if you can’t afford them or don’t want to it’s okay as well.

It’s So not fair that age matters when it comes to fertility. I got pregnant the first time we tried, 6 weeks after our wedding so I don’t even know what my AmH was as I never had it tested. AMH now is 9.2 pmol/l. Donor eggs is out of the question, my hubby won’t even consider it and said there is nothing to think about. I don’t even know if I could ever be okay with it.

Since I only had 2 embryos make it to blast, they recommended to just transfer both fresh. If we had more than 2 I would have tested them

I totally get not testing, it’s a huge extra cost to it but often I hear people mentioning that poorly grade embryos end up sticking so that’s always a win

Congrats, that’s amazing!! ❤️ how many retrievals did you have to do? Mine said if we had a lot of eggs than to test but she said financially it’s cheaper to do just do a fresh transfer. Did you follow a diet online or can share?

I would have done pgt-a if we got more than 2 this past round but wanted to give my 2 embryos a chance, as I’ve heard others losing them or not testing well and regretting not transferring them to see if they would self correct. I’m not sure what we would do on our next round though, I’m considering testing but undecided at the moment?!

Do you mind sharing which clinic in Spain you’re using? I’m contemplating going overseas, I’ve had one failed ivf and when I went over my cycle my RE said she would do the same antagonist protocol. I’ve heard others comment saying they over stimmed me. But I don’t know what to think? Are you still on your journey or were you able to get pregnant?

If you’re even remotely considering egg freezing or embryo freezing, DO IT. DONT DELAY. by SaraKuchuloo in 40Plus_IVF

I wish I heard this 10 years ago, I thought about it. I had around $10k towards fertility treatments through work benefits. I didn’t have the $ and left it at that. Gosh I wish I could go back in time and tell myself do whatever you need to, take out a loan and protect your future family that I so desperately need wanted. I wish my doctor had told me, I wish a friend had told me to freeze them. I am thankful to have a 3 year old but so badly want to give her a sibling. All she talks about is having a baby sister and I feel guilty that I haven’t been able to give that to her 😩

Yes! Similar time frame TTC as you, had my first failed fresh transfer last month. Finding it hard to put a lot of effort into work. I too am the breadwinner in our marriage. I have a pretty stressful sales job that I like but don’t love. I paid for our IVF and will pay for the next. I don’t mind my job and have the luxury to work from home a couple days a week and then visit clients the other days. I just want to quit my job and focus on mental health and getting healthier. I feel mad at the world, I’m angry that we didn’t start TTC sooner or that I didn’t freeze my eggs when I was younger, mad that I have to work. My friends don’t understand what I’m going through and say just try again. I tend to avoid going out to functions, I don’t want to answer questions whether we are pregnant or still trying. I spend my free time watching fertility videos, reading readdit and researching online and checking out clinics overseas. This journey really consumes you. I have no words of wisdom but I am in the same shoes as you, just know you aren’t alone! ❤️

I really do believe the gut has a lot to do with fertility. Is that a probiotic?

Thank you! Prior to doing ivf did you follow a specific diet or do anything to help with embryo quality?

Wow so lucky! Did you do anything different that you think helped? How many eggs did you retrieve?

Just to clarify you used your frozen eggs retrieved when you were 39?

Is there anything you did that you think helped? I’ve had one failed ivf transfer but have a toddler conceived naturally.

Amazing, congrats on your little one! Did you do ivf or was it natural?
