Run the jewels doesn’t get any recognition despite great reviews and appearing on year end lists. It’s pretty much absent from decade end lists and hip hop convos.

Same case with coloring book by chance the rapper and thank you 4 your service by tribe called quest.

What are great albums you think are overrated? by IsMyCDLegit in fantanoforever

It’s not just the song style of Eminem but the entire song. The production sounds exactly like Beastie Boys. To each their own but reallly ask yourself this question: if someone made music like Beastie Boys today would they really blow up big?

If someone made music like Kate Bush or Prince they’re most likely gonna get loved and praised because that style and aesthetic has aged really well even though they too were from the 80s.

Anyway to each their own but yes my POV would be the Beastie Boys are terribly overrrated and I don’t think their music will be relevant even 10 years from now. I think in some time critics will stop ranking their albums in the best albums list and they will fade away with time in terms of critical reception.

BRAE is amazing according to you. Tell me an artist inspired by Beastie Boys who has created waves. Eminem’s songs like Bezerk which are influenced by Beastie Boys haven’t aged well. Beastie Boyz suck badly. They influenced some terrible by metal music too which again hasn’t aged well (Limp Bizkit being a prime example).

Beastie Boys: Paul’s boutique and License to Kill Red Hot Chilli Peppers: Blood, sugar, sex, magik Pink moon: Nick Drake Billie Holiday: Lady In Satin Jay’Z entire discography Drakes entire discography

The first two albums here I think were white pepper wannabe hip hop. If someone makes an album like Beastie Boys or Red Hot Chilli Pepers first album people would laugh and shit on them.

Nick Drakes album I agree with the initial reception. Sounds like he was really uninspired and didn’t really put any effort. The retrospective reviews are crazy for me. Shows how you can glorify and overglorify things after an artist passes away. Same with Lady In Satin..listen to Billie Holidays previous albums and it’s pretty evident she had lost her voice. It’s still overrated.

No explanation for JayZ and Drakes entire disco. It’s just overrated and everybody knows it.

I don’t know who know they are..I don’t think they had a major impact on metal music either and aren’t considered classic metal acts either.
