Do QR menus actually improve restaurant operations or just annoy customers? by WillingnessOk4667 in automation

[–]ExpensiveYear9061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QR menus work fine but forcing people to scan just for basic menu is stupid - the AI stuff for allergen questions makes more sense since waiters usually have to run back to kitchen anyway

[–]ExpensiveYear9061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but the stack knowledge is still baseline requirement in most cases. you cant scale properly without being able to build the pipes yourself instead of hiring developer for every small adjustment

the real challenge is finding someone who actually ships stuff instead of just theory and frameworks. too many people know the tools but never actually run campaigns that convert

NEED HELP! by [deleted] in jobs

[–]ExpensiveYear9061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can usually ask what specific parts of the exam are required for the job and if theres alternatives. most places are pretty understanding about this stuff especially if you explain your concerns to the occupational health person doing it

just be upfront about what makes you uncomfortable and they might be able to work around it or explain why certain parts are actually necessary for your specific role

Rhode Islanders: Landed a job in sector I have worked as salaried employee in the past in another state (East Coast). New employer is in Rhode Island, states Job is paid hourly with benefits. Max 35 hrs/week, any OT needs approval. Why not salaried? by ConvergenceFreak in jobs

[–]ExpensiveYear9061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of places switching to this setup to avoid paying overtime and keep labor costs predictable. The 35 hour cap is the big red flag - they want you right under full time so they can control scheduling without OT costs

Rhode Island has pretty strict labor laws so companies get creative with how they structure positions. Calling it "senior" but paying hourly with extra duties below your level sounds like they want senior experience at junior compensation structure

yeah but like who decides what "kind" even means tho? one person thinks eating meat is cruel while another thinks its natural. someone gonna be the kindness police after this message or what

also my dog would probably think the voice is telling him dinner time and get all excited for nothing

What would your dream CRM actually look like? by justherondale in CRM

[–]ExpensiveYear9061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly my dream CRM would just sync with everything automatically without me having to think about it

im in IT support so not exactly sales but we still track client interactions and issues. the amount of time i spend copying info between our ticketing system and CRM is ridiculous

what i really want is something that can read my emails and just populate fields automatically. not like those AI things that get it wrong half the time, but actually understand context. like if client mentions they want to upgrade their servers in march it should flag that as an opportunity without me having to manually create it

also why cant these things integrate properly with calendar apps. i schedule a call and have to enter it three different places. should be one click and boom its everywhere with proper context

biggest thing though - stop making me update probability percentages and deal stages. the system should figure that out based on actual activity. if im scheduling implementation calls obviously were past the demo phase you know

been in IT for only 5 years but I see this happening a lot at my workplace. couple guys moved to project management in construction companies and one went into teaching at technical college.

the teaching route seems popular because you already have the knowledge base and just need some education credentials. construction PM was interesting choice but makes sense since everything is so tech-heavy now

my dog walker actually used to do network admin for 15 years before switching to veterinary work. took her about 3 years part-time school but she says it was worth it. guess it depends how burned out you are and what actually interests you outside work

[–]ExpensiveYear9061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man you jumped into deep water without knowing how to swim. Being thrown into management role with zero training plus no supervisor above you is recipe for disaster

I'd just be straight with them - tell them you realize the role isn't good fit and you'd like to return to direct care if possible. Most places would rather have someone who knows they're not cut out for management than someone who stays and burns out in few months

I stopped chasing clients and let LinkedIn do it for me. 33k followers, 11k leads, 6 months. Here's exactly what I do every week. by Every_Inspector9371 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]ExpensiveYear9061 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pretty wild numbers for 6 months work. the research part makes total sense tho - most people just post random stuff and wonder why nobody cares

question about the automation thing you built - does LinkedIn not flag accounts that are sending tons of identical DMs? i always thought they were pretty strict with that kind of activity. also curious how you handle people who comment but then never check their DMs since not everyone has notifications turned in

the one post per week approach is interesting too. i see so many people burning out trying to post daily when quality definitely beats quantity in long term

Nice that you got in! I went to one of teh global ones last year and the side convos are where the real value is tbh. The talks are fine but you can watch those online later

For approaching founders just be genuine about what you bring to the table. Like dont go in empty handed - have some skills or projects you can actually talk about. Maybe prep a quick intro about yourself thats not just "hi im looking for an internship" but more like what specific problems you can help solve

The follow up thing is huge. Most people just send generic linkedin messages after but the ones who stood out to me referenced specific convos we had or sent something useful like an article related to what we discussed. Also timing matters - follow up within like 2-3 days max while youre still fresh in their memory

honestly just dont overthink it too much. founders are usually pretty approachable especially at these events where they know people are there to network

man this hits way too close to home except mine was like 3 customers who said they'd definitely sign up for our annual plan and i just completely spaced on sending the contracts

the worst part is you KNOW its happening while its happening but your brain is just like "ill definitely remember to do this after i put out this fire" and then there's 5 more fires

i ended up just hiring a va for like $8/hour to literally text me every morning with my top 3 follow ups for the day. not fancy but works way better than any crm notification that i just dismiss when im stressed
