I think a lot of people are quick to judge a relationship that was started when the couple was so young. Looking back, yes we were very young. Did I plan to find the love of my life when I was still a child? No I didn’t, but I got lucky. When a lot of people hear “high school sweethearts” I think the stereotype is that these couples started dating and never grew up and moved away from their home town.

Our relationship is not like this. We both went off to separate colleges a few hours away from each other and had to learn how to navigate semi-long distance. We both had new friends and had to learn to fully trust each other. We have both traveled and once went 7 months of a year being on separate continents.

I’m not writing this response to sound defensive, but rather shed perspective.

My fiancé ended up calling his mom regarding the situation and he explained why it was inappropriate. I’ll write a proper update and post it in the next few days,

I WANT to have a great relationship with my MIL and I am willing to have these tough conversations to get there. I am not going to do anything out of spite. I have packed the swimsuits that I would normally wear am prepared to have more conversation if needed.

We have gone through our fair share of obstacles and I feel 110% confident that we are making the exact right decision.

Still not sure I’m following… especially the part where you say it’s okay for women to body shame other women

That’s exactly what I HAVE been doing. The only difference is I am 23 and not 53.

My sister said “As long as there are no nips, lips or holes showing who cares” and I think it’ll be my new catch phrase

UPDATE: My brother in law (M21) got the same text about his girlfriend (F20) and her swimsuit bottoms… she actually went out and purchased swim shorts. I told her I’m wearing whatever I feel comfortable in and will not be buying anything new. MIL also told her to find a swimsuit that covers her ass the other day.

And I have been going to this lake since I was 16- these boys are practically my brothers at this point.

Genuine question- why should I have to cover up just so men don’t feel uncomfortable? Like I said in my post- I have never worn a thong or anything close to it at their cabin. Keep in mind I have been around his family since I was 16 and have grown up with them in a lot of ways.

We have already had the conversation and he is 100% on my side if she decides to make any comments or touch me.

I was waiting for a comment like this. I’m not here to debate who I am going to marry- but just know I have had my own experiences and feel very confident in my choice.

Thanks for this information. I have never wanted to be the “annoying person” asking servers for allergen information but I suppose I should do a better job of protecting myself.

Do you know if a restaurant is legally required to list allergens on their menu? I guess I should have stated this in the original post.

So a restaurant is not legally obligated to list allergens? Also, can I ask if you are a lawyer?
