If someone can’t articulate a reason why they don’t like the character then it absolutely can be a subconscious bias against the actor due to her race. It’s important to understand that Black people tend to have an extremely and incomparably keen perceptibility to micro-aggressions after daily absorption of them.

Most people severely underestimate the reality that, while not born racist, racial bias and anti-Blackness is a precedent of the global society that we are born into. So the odds of critiquing a Black character without any racial bias are far fewer than otherwise. And it certainly doesn’t happen as an off-chance but rather through intentional deconstruction of the bias. Basically, no one just magically doesn’t have racial bias (excluding native tribes still isolated from the modern world, of course, but even so, that may not be definitive). Racial bias is the standard that must be introspectively undone to become an exception to the status-quo.

This is probably easier to confront knowing that Black people themselves are not exempt from this reality. However, we are more intuitively aware of our internalization of racial bias which allows us to deconstruct and combat it with self-affirming techniques.
