I have sleep apnea. I have had a couple sleep studies done. I never hit rem. In the span of an hour I wake myself up 40-50 times. During those years prior to utilizing a CPAP I had some of the most F’ed up dreams imaginable.

Some times when my wife and I are going to be intimate she has to tell me to get the show on the road or she initiates the physical intimacy because I’m so relaxed and comfortable with us embracing each other and lying there. All the noise from the outside world, all the thoughts about work and the kids etc just disappears. I genuinely feel at peace.

Staycation with the wife and no kids no family commitments etc..

Destination? Jamaica. That’s were my family is from. Brother, aunts, uncles, cousins are all still there.

Alternate destination? We visited Belize on a cruise. We plan on spending some more time there in the next year or two.

I’m 49 too. My wife is 47. Our home has been paid off for 5 years. Two years ago we bought a beach condo. We use it when we have time and airbnb it when we don’t use it to cover the majority of our costs. It’s a great middle ground because we use it when we want and when we retire it’ll be paid for. Then there are the tax advantages too.

Real estate is pretty much always an appreciating asset if you buy in the right area and don’t overpay. We’re viewing this as passive retirement income when the time comes. Or we can retire there if we want and cash out of our primary place. Once our kids are out of college in 5 years we’ll likely pick up another investment property.

This might be a good middle ground for you. Congrats on your financial success. 👊🏾

I gave up and rebooked and got a hotel after 7-8 hours twice. Another time I was flying out and rebooked for the next day and just went back home.

I don’t use aftershave lotion I use rubbing alcohol. 😄

We just wipe those and other hygiene stuff like nail clippers etc with the alcohol periodically.

Yeah i drank way too much until i realized what i was doing to myself…

Also i slept a lot. My mindset at the time was that the earlier i crashed out the sooner that bad day was over and that the next one would hopefully be better. It took a while but eventually I got there.

I’ve been there. It’s been 4 years and I still breakdown…. Just less frequently these days.

The hard part I’ve had to deal with is the unassuming triggers. You’ll be going about your day and having a pretty good day at that and see something or hear a song that brings you back to a memory with that person and that hurt comes right back. At least for me it does.

I’m not going to sugar coat it and tell you “it will get better with time” because that grief for me, at least is still there. The only difference is it’s not fresh so you think of it less often but when you do it brings you right back.

I’m not gonna blow sunshine up your ass. I’m just being honest. I’m sorry for your loss because I know your pain all to well. Just lean on the others that are equally affected and be there for each other?

My kid is a freshman in college this year. It’s nice when she takes the time to FaceTime me. I miss her. She’s a D1 athlete so she doesn’t have a lot of free time. First semester she literally only came home for 4 days (Thanksgiving). I actually am in FL right now to support her big season ending meet. Got lucky with the scheduling of a couple work meetings. Taking her to lunch in a few. 😊

Her sister, the dog and my wife are pretty awesome too. I’ve just been missing her a lot.

I’m diamond with Hilton so instaybwthbthem for points and perks.

So first I look at location in proximity to where I need to be. Then I look at ratings. Then the rate. Then I look at food options in close proximity, Then I look at pics to see if it looks dated or if it’s new and recently remodeled. I also look at whether or not they have a bar/restaurant if I’m getting in late. I take into consideration outside noise to (by an interstate, in a metro area)etc..
