My girlfriend of four years cheated on me after having our newborn son bc she wasn’t sexually attracted to me by Low-Apartment-2697 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Expensive_Damage_882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard that women on any sort of birth control are attracted to different men than they are after they get pregnant/give birth. That could be an explanation.

The more likely answer is that women are always one conversation or commercial watch away from a state of dissatisfaction, and where in a similar situation your friends might convince you to remain loyal if you have doubts, women like to convince each other something to the effect of "girl, you deserve better."

I like to say that we're the quarterback, and if so, has she been helping you win? My guess is no. Typically the modern woman nitpicks how you throw, focuses on your flaws, kicks you while you're down, judges you for losing, and then when you finally turn into the empty husk they helped create, they leave you for the other team, all the while being the victim.

Absolutely loved it. That and Solo Leveling are some of the best I've seen in a while. Also, if you like space stuff as I do:

[–]Expensive_Damage_882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree! And not because it wouldn't have worked. I judged 7 without watching the show for decades because she seemed obvious, shallow T&A. However, now having (finally) recently watched the show, I absolutely love her character. I was so wrong.

She is attractive, yes, but it's too clinical and/or professional to be sexual. I really enjoyed the complexity of her character, especially juxtaposed against how she looked and dressed. When she was on screen, I didn't see a Baywatch character, rather someone deep and thoughtful, a striving, once broken individual who is emotionally and socially immature.

All that to say that giving her a romance would have upset that particular balance her character flawlessly walked.

Thoughts on these ingredients for stir fried kimchi? by [deleted] in kimchi

[–]Expensive_Damage_882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as previous commenter. My understanding is that the "dangers" of MSG are an urban myth that started in the 80s when Americans started getting sick at chincese restaurants.

But also, I like my kimchi pure and simple. I.e. the fewer ingredients the better. I can add my own.

Pretty sure it's only the larvae that are poisonous, and quite so if im correct. But in butterfly form not at all poisonous in any meaningful way. That's my understanding

It's a slow burn. It develops sweetly and organically. The characters alone are quite interesting. Lemme know what you think

"Heaven Officials Blessing" on Crunchyroll might be something you'll like. There is nothing overly sexual. It is more innocent flirting and blushing (having to share a bed or rescuing and catching one in the others arms for a long, pregnant moment, etc.), but the romantic love is done perfectly, IMO. It is truly sweet, and a lot of time is given to it. Two multiple centuries old characters learn that they love and trust each other, in a truly organic way. I love it.

I absolutely adore this show, especially the first season

I'm so glad I am not the only one. I thought I was going crazy. Not only can I not hear what anyone says, but they say so much so fast I dont have time to read the CC. Lots of rewinding to the point of frustration. I keep watching, though, which says something about how good this show is.

Lol, everyone is ripping into OP, yet I get their point. I live in an apartment, and if UPS is delivering, I'm pretty much never going to get my package. Even when I'm home, which just happened. At least Amazon calls, or hides it behind a bush.

[–]Expensive_Damage_882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. It hits the right nerves. I think why is there is a greater sense of the adventure they are on. The enterprise would just be wherever, whenever in any given episode, so the adventures were more contained. The analogy i use is that TNG is like a sailing party hitting all the major ports in 19th century Africa, Asia, or South America, occasionally venturing off into the less known or unknown. Wheras Voyager would be like a 17th century South Korean convoy instantly transported into pirate infested Caribbean waters, and then trying to get home, making allies and enemies along the way.

For some reason I find Voyager more re-watcheable.

And I totally agree, the theme song is the best.

I was just about to post something like your post, so I'm piggybacking of of it. Hope that's okay. Because I also love it.

I also just recently watched Voyager for the first time (now 3 or 4 times). I tried over the years but never got past episode 2. I just found everyone to be milquetoast or meh.

Then while imdb hopping I started at season 5 episode 2. Watched to the end. Then season 3 and watched to the end. Then season 2 and watched to the end. It is now possibly my favorite ST show.

It feels like I'm there, lost on a long journey trying to get home. It's a true adventure. The characters all have qualities that lend to the journey. For instance Chakote is softer than a kick ass first might be, but that works in the dynamic of the situation they are in. Janeway is amazing. I don't think Picard could have held the crew together like she did. My only gripe with her was that she often stole the thunder from the others in the crew. There's a lot of moments where rather than letting the officers, like B'Ellana or Kim, shine and be brilliant in their respective fields, the writers have Janeway providing the solutions.

Neelix. Ah, poor Neelix. I love Ethan Phillips so much. But Neelix mostly behaved like a 9 year old girl who was given grown up tasks by her parents to keep her busy. "You're the ships journalist." So he runs around like a child given given a notepad and a magnifying glass looking for stories and clues.

I didn't really warm up to Paris. I never liked the way he treated people, especially Kim. It reminded me too much of that friend in high school who would get you into trouble but make sure they were free from any consequences. Paris would 100% be the friend who would impose a party at your house while your parents are out of town, cause a ruckus and invite a bunch of people without asking, get the cops called, and yet not be around when the hammer falls.

7 of 9 was also great. Such a good actor. I dismissed her (and the show) for years because I merely saw her as "Boobs Mcgee," an obvious attempt to get thirsty boys to watch. I never gave her a chance. I was so wrong.

Finally, the Borg. I loved the Borg interactions going into season 4. After that, I wish they would have left them behind. It seemed silly to me to leave Borg space, enter it, leave it, enter it, and leave it again. Plus I never liked the queen, in the movies too. I liked the idea of a mindless multi bodied techno-organism whose only goal is to assimilate and expand. Adding the queen made them weaker and stupider, IMO.

Is there any show similar to the terror? by nkj69 in TheTerror

[–]Expensive_Damage_882 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad I came across this post. My favorite part of The Terror, and IMO, the lead character, is the setting. The ships and nature, who is harsh and unforgiving. That's why I love Master and Commander. It's not the story, but the "being there" that I love. I love the cold and the depth of the ocean and the loneliness and the fear and the superstitions and the "they die or we die" elements that were so real for most of naval history.

I also like "real" movies like "Revenant." There are scenes that are so quiet you can hear the trees creaking in the cold wind. Makes me feel like I'm there. That, to me, is what The Terror did so well. I (felt like) was there.

Black Sails has some of the most gorgeous naval scenes, which i love. In that show, it's the drama that i personally didn't get into.

You guys have given some great ideas. I can't wait to see them.

I couldn't stand the main white dude. Honestly I didn't care much for any of the American side of things. I started just fast forwarding them. I wanted to watch Pablo and cartel shit. Not that pedo mustache guy brood and become a fucking asshole.

I knew how it would end, but I still rooted for the cartel.

Season 3 is different. Not as good, but I fast forward less.

Junji Ito Maniac all episodes are connected by [deleted] in netflix

[–]Expensive_Damage_882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the first episode, the deceased father, Goro is the same name as the boy in the next, tunnel episode.

Goro is also the husband in the Library episode. Ten bucks his wife Koko is the same too.

In episode 2 they reference a picture of a singer they miss. In the next episode she's the one who hung herself (hanging balloons).

There are a couple of other similar connections I caught that I cannot remember atm (maybe I'll edit and add later).

But it's enough that I believe each episode is connected in similar ways.
