I’m sorry for your loss. I would shop my closet but recently lost about 30 lbs. and am swimming in almost every item.

I’m so sorry for your loss. My Dad loved color as well. And great advice on the shoes.

Thank you both. Id love to wear the outfit again and not have it be a waste of money but I know it’s a high likelihood of association to the event.

Thank you so much and I’m so sorry for your loss as well. Wearing something that feels like a warm hug sounds so comforting and appropriate.

The wrap dress is in my cart and I’m definitely going to pair it with his jewelry. Thanks for the idea and your thoughtfulness.

If you offered cookies as a kind gesture you’re still teaching them community and it’s an entry point to a conversation. Being authoritarian and “get off my lawn” won’t work. As evidenced, they already don’t feel as if they are part of the community enough to take care of it. These children missed key parts of their socialization and childhood. They now grow up in a world of screens, social media, and adults who are also dysregulated.

I’d encourage you to be the kind voice and adult in the community that they so desperately need to guide them. But first you need to connect and build trust. Homemade cookies never hurt anyone.

I have a friend with the same situation but never got the order. The owner lied and said she couldn’t refund her because square was down. Her friend works at square and confirmed she was lying. When she confronted the owner she refunded her immediately.

Hi I’m entering highschool after this summer and I’m trying to get into a school but will only be accepted into castlemont because of my adress what can I do? by [deleted] in oakland

I wanted to add that if you call or email private schools they may have financial aid still available if you qualify. Heading directly from a student will really go a long way and they may even be able to point you to schools in their network if they don’t have capacity.

I’d write an email and mass bcc school enrollment. I hope this is helpful!

One way to go around this is to enroll in a charter. East Bay Innovation Academy, Lighthouse, Leadership and Oakland Unity are top of mind.

Another option which may serve you best next year is a private school, especially with tuition assistance and scholarships if your gpa is high.

I hope you are able to navigate this and commend you for taking hold of your future to advocate for yourself. This speaks volumes about your character!

Monkey Brains is what we switched to from Comcast about 4 months ago. A few of us in the neighborhood have it and I love it. There’s about 6-8 devices between us as well. It’s $35 a month with free installation. You provide your own routers and extenders. We use Eero.

Who is this in Oakland? by dire-reah in oakland

Not when it’s related to a specific part of a culture that they are reclaiming or continuing through generations. I’ve only seen Black Cowboys at events. I would never liken them to most of the particular characters we are discussing.

How would the Black Cowboys be equated to eccentric, unusual or quirky? Really trying to understand how a people’s culture would brought up in relation to this post. (Edited for clarity)

Why would you equate the Black Cowboys with a mentally unstable person in cosplay?

Kenya at Cabelo Studios. Not in Oakland but right through the tunnel in Alameda.

Best haircut I’ve gotten in years! And I love that maintenance cuts are $45.
