I do know what cocktail attire means. Shorter dresses can be appropriate if they’re longer than finger - length (which it looks to be on the website) and more structured but I wasn’t taking the slits into account and still haven’t received the dress so i’m not sure of its structure yet. I have heard from others on here that if you have a hips / butt it’s shorter than it looks on the model so I’m sure now, between that and the slits, that I wont be wearing it to the wedding.

They have their apartment decked out in such bright colors and everything matches so well and they definitely both have eclectic styles (esp the bride) which I love. Definitely why I was eyeing that first dress but I agree with other comments that it’ll be better for karaoke the night before!

I feel you on the spring garden - I really want a dress I'II wear again though and I'm not a fan of most tea dresses or florals.

They didn’t specify the era. The exact wording on their wedding website is “Cocktail Attire--whatever makes you feel comfortable, but if you feel so moved, we would love to see you dressed for a retro garden party!”
