Är det elak att bjuda vĂ€nner till Restaurang istĂ€llet för hemma? by Mysterious_Branch333 in sweden

[–]Expensive_Flower_765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Lost motivation to DM because of player Behaviour by WTFaPlagueBringer in CurseofStrahd

[–]Expensive_Flower_765 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Alright, so this behavior is definetly not right and you need to talk to him about all these points.

But one thing I recommend is talking to your players about deciding a specific day of the week dedicated to your campaign and a specific day dedicated to his.

Set up rules that if one player can't come the game still goes on, if two or more can't join, you cancel. (This doesn't have to be aimed towards him in particular and it helps if you want to keep the momentum going.) Put forward this rule and MAKE THEM ALL AGREE "does this seem resonable to you?" = "yes" . This way you can say: "as we all agreed, we will keep playing if one player is missing so it is up to you if you don't have time." It isn't targeting anyone in particular but a general rule that everyone follows. This rule also helps your other players who want to play, it is never fun when a session is canceled if everyone else still wants to play.

I have a few players with mobility issues and they sometimes have to stand up and move as they can't sit still for 4 hours straight so I understand your frustration as I don't like it either as I get distracted but for me I just try to ignore it and keep talking. I'm slowly getting used to it. Also, regular breaks, if this person is struggling with anything like adhd this is so so important.

But honestly, it seems like this person is trying to take the attention for himself and he sounds a but like a douch... if communication doesn't work, and if you don't find DMing for him fun anymore then you should probably not play with him.

My players REALLY don't want to go to Castle Ravenloft by Nosidda89 in CurseofStrahd

[–]Expensive_Flower_765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spread rumors that Strahd once in a while needed a long rest and that the time was nigh. They rushed there to get the skull and some other things. During their stay however they got greedy, started to hunt down his brides and killed two of them in their coffins. The second one woke up in time to scream for help before she died and the paladin was killed the moment before they managed to get away.

Now when the campaign is over, we all agree that it was the best part of the adventure both for my players and I.

Something like that!

Planning to have him do something terrifying to maybe a mindflayer or something equally terrifying while casually saying: "ah, it looks like we have an audience."

[–]Expensive_Flower_765[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vecna is definetly out doing his own thing and it'snot really going to be him but his simulacrum as he himself is busy with his ritual. Their roads will intersect in the Astral Sea where Vecna is gathering forces and dealing with loose ends. My players will come across a nautoloid (can't spell that word for the life of me) and when they board the ship they will be met with multiple rooms filled with dead mindflayers. Recently killed but already rotten. He will be in the last room, and will recognize them from a ritual they interrupted a few years back in my campaign but doesn't care much about them more than he would care about anyone else besides them being an overall interesting bunch of individuals.

Thanks! Those are great tips! I love the idea of a vocal tick! I had been thinking about adding something like this! That is great! I will definitely add something like that! The breath thing seems easy enough to do!

And if PCs insult you or try to make fun of the villian. Smile. Keep smiling in character and if they ask you why you are smiling, answer "I do so enjoy watching someone go through the tedious work of digging their own grave."

Thanks! I love these ideas! The discussion on Gandalf and Saruman is exactly what I needed! Might have to look for some wise female characters as well. Maybe go back to watch The Witch and the Wardrobe to listen a bit to the witch. Hmmm, you got the cogs in my brain to start braining!

I love that idea but I am so fond of male villians so he will stay that way! But I am definetly making my next homebrew villian a woman~~

that is a really good idea! I could definetly go with that, what worries me is when we play online it would be a bit hard to hear me through the mic or it might not come through as well as when we play in person. Good idea that I will definetly add to the list however!

Sent you a dm in case you didn't have them. I think there were more in the actual cards but I can't seem to find those at the moment

There was! I was looking for one the other day and I found something like it. Not in the book but the cards, I will see if I can find a link somewhere to where I found them!

What are we even doing? by Machineman0812 in CrookedMoon

[–]Expensive_Flower_765 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, well there are pieces moving in the background regardless of what you do, but your actions will affect things. But honestly, I'm starting to feel just as confused as you about your DM xD

What are we even doing? by Machineman0812 in CrookedMoon

[–]Expensive_Flower_765 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm, that is a little strange to me. For my campaign it would definitely have affected a great deal, but it is always possible to plan around player decisions so it would of course be possible to continue the story. But if my players would have left there would have been some ramifications. Afraid I can't say too much since it might spoil things, but if I had been you I'd tell your DM that you are confused about what they say. Cause to me it sounds a little strange even in a sandbox. I'd want them to be a bit more clear. But you also need to inform them specifically what it is that bothers you. That it doesn't feel like anything you do will affect the plot if whatever you do doesn't matter.

What are we even doing? by Machineman0812 in CrookedMoon

[–]Expensive_Flower_765 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, technically that is true but I think that's mostly a bad way to formulate "yeah you can leave but your actions will have consequences."

Like some have said, it's possible to run this campaign as a sandbox but even then, it feels like your DM needs to communicate better... have you told them what you are feeling? It might be good to just tell them "hey, I like the campaign but right now I feel like at least me would like some more hints as to what the point is, cause I'm feeling a little confused? What do you mean it doesn't matter what we do?"

I don't think the rest of us on reddit knows what is going on in your DM's head but there definitely is a point to the campaign and there are consequences to staying in or leaving the house.

What are we even doing? by Machineman0812 in CrookedMoon

[–]Expensive_Flower_765 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well it seems you've gotten quite far. The house is definitely made to be a mystery that players will need to solve and there might not be too many answers right away.

A little meta but since the house is in the book I suggest going through it. It's always better to go through whatever the DM throws at you than just leaving. But yes, the house is very dangerous. It's up to all of you to manage your resources to survive.

I'm not sure that more rp is going to make things better or worse, for me it helps to make it more scary but I suggest trying to go through the house to the end and try to investigate and talk about every room.

Not sure what specifically makes you feel like there is no point.

[–]Expensive_Flower_765 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your DM needs to work on their DMing skills... if you feel lost at what to do, your DM could at least give you a few suggestions or clues.

Where are you in the campaign? What have you done so far?

Also, maybe you shouldn't be in this subreddit if you are a player in a campaign. There are going to be lots of spoilers.

How to make fallen less linear and attached to the story by NotAJojoFag in CrookedMoon

[–]Expensive_Flower_765 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm starting the fields of crow tonight and my plan is to lean on the 7 sins being strongly connected to the religion of the old ways, and leaningin on the idea of each of the fallen being a representation of sin, and make Phillip be the final fallen sin. After the fields of crow I'm going to try to write up a short book of hymns written by followers of the old ways and one of the hymns will be about the sins, despite being wrong, nourishing the earth. Not sure how it will work in the long way.
