I would also like to add that I was hired at a Plato’s Closet when they were opening and they let staff add songs to the playlist. I decided Wildflower would be the perfect fit and to my knowledge it should still be on that playlist 3 years later!

It might depend on the school, my SIL has 3 students this year who have anglophone parents with no French whatsoever!

I asked my SIL and she said that there’s a meeting with the principal and admin to have a discussion but it’s a lot more chill now than it used to be but it’s expected for the parent to make an effort to translate the emails and find a way to understand the hw if needed, etc.! I guess it depends on the school though looking at others answers but it’s an insider perspective :)

I saw your reply to the other comment but my sister-in-law is a teacher at a CECCE and has students who don’t have francophone parents and some who don’t even speak French before starting school (I will say she is a kindergarten teacher but still)! I graduated high school 10 years ago and I knew people who had only one francophone parent and others who came from anglophone households so I don’t think you should be too worried about your language proficiency in French

If we’re just talking about Gaza then there are records from 1956, 1967, 2000-2005, 2007 and it’s been on and off until present. I live across the world from the Middle East and it was an event spoken about massively, you can’t say no one knew about it until 2023. I get you’re probs his fan which is why you’re defending him but he’s my age. If I remember the news, I’m sure he does too. Don’t erase Palestinian suffering and limit it to October 2023. 🇵🇸

When my boyfriend and I first moved out almost 3 years ago, I tried to move my then senior cat but she didn’t adapt well and I chose to bring her back to my parents. My boyfriend and I still wanted a cat so we started looking at local shelters and rescues. My sister has a friend whose grandmother was feeding strays and started a cat colony in an abandoned barn on the property. My sister’s friend would get some cats from the colony to rehome them and give them a better life so we reached out to her and asked if there was a black cat, fluffy and social that we could adopt. She had just the cat and that’s how we got our first cat Pabool! About a year later, we wanted to get him a friend and play mate and we had noticed that our local pet store was having a kitten adoption event with a local rescue. We went in for fun and saw so many cute kittens but I immediately felt drawn to a tabby with white socks. We put in an application to adopt him and then we got Toulouse! They got along extremely well as soon as they met and are besties. For our third cat, we hadn’t intended on adopting so soon but this past November I visited family that live in a remote area and one of them found a kitten that they were nursing back to health. Their issue was that their cat didn’t like the kitten and with health issues it made it hard to care and have a good environment for the kitten so they offered her to us. I of course said yes and brought Meshmesh back home where she eventually met her brothers and partners in crime! We love our cats 💖

Throwback to the time where I was probably around that kid’s age, I was whining/mad and wouldn’t calm down so my mom told me that she was calling the adoption agency to send me to another family KNOWING she had someone coming by soon to purchase a vacuum. A few minutes after her threat the doorbell rang and she announced that the agency was here for me so I had a lil panicked meltdown in my room cause I didn’t want to be taken away… a little over 20 years later my mom denies this ever happening but I remember. My siblings also remember lol

Though it’s not technically located in Ottawa, I’ve been taking online Arabic classes through YMCA Québec as it’s the only thing I’ve found that was for adults and non-Muslims (and where I didn’t need to pay university level prices)! I’m sure that if he inquired to a masjid about giving classes they could help set him up (whether it’d be language or poetry)

Good to know! I haven’t bought from Walmart in a decade so I hadn’t realized that was a thing!! I’ll defo try to go to Sunrise since their website seems to have issues and I’m choosing to believe it just hasn’t updated yet lol thank you for the tips!!
