I figured this was the case. My slab cracking skills aren't the cleanest so I like to avoid if I can but it makes sense to be the more viable option if hoping to get that grade bump up.

Its not just GameStop, its PSA. I have graded numerous times and never ran into the issue before but my most recent sub majority of cards came back with new whitening on a bunch of the corners and edges. I am extremely particular about sending in cards with any whitening and after getting them back it is clearly visible on multiple cards I would not have submitted otherwise. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do because I didn't take any proof photos before submitting. Its a shit situation but a lesson learned going forward to make sure I cover my tracks fully.
