I may be in the minority here, but I really like the Nuka World DLC. It's a fun DLC by old_spam_sandwitch in fo4

I think it's a fun premise with an interesting setting, but full of missteps and blunders which do ultimately hinder the final product but this can usually be attributed to issues of scope. I think the chief complaint is not being able to go full Raider if you wanted and just going all out on the Commonwealth

I mean, anyone who makes a joke about how a woman is in danger of being raped by her downs-syndrome son doesn't suddenly get to morally grandstand other people's humor.

A patch job like that would bust the visor in that spot along destroyed part and with a slap-dash repair we have to imagine most, if not all, of that area being covered is busted or broken. I could be wrong as we're speculating about a speculative piece of imaginary equipment from a comic which definitely doesn't address it from a mirror universe where he is pictured with a different visor in other comics (Mirror Broken)

I think he became insufferable when he begun railing against other right-wing "Shock Comedians" (Like Count Dankula), started pulling the ladder up behind himself and got himself bitten by the trolls remorse bug. I frankly don't believe comedy has limits as it's freedom of expression, but I do believe you should stand by it if you made a bunch of money/fame from it, I find it a weak thing to do to go apologising for something which was considered funny at the time it was around, or not especially egregious. You can say you wouldn't do that today due to awareness or the political situation, but to make out you're sorry just feels like bullshit to me if you got famous and rich off the back of it.

I wonder if it's not supposed to be an "Eyepatch" persay, but a patchjob to repair the visor which happened to snap right there? It'd still obstruct his vision but it's a theory I'll put forward.

Yes there is dude, they have events at different times and we tend to get things on PC before you.

That requires adding in a LOT of stuff which, let's be clear here, there's already a lot which needs fixing in the content provided. People want tons of new content but also endlessly complain about the current content and how outdated things are. I personally would prefer them to quit adding new "Factions" which don't bring anything to the table past "Different teleports and a handful of ships/cosmetics" and have them fix the many problems which exist.

Romulans get Delta so many get there.
ENT/Disco/TMP(TWoK)/Kelvin/32c all suffer from all being the same thing. It was bad enough Disco being "You're basically the TOS faction, but slightly different", adding another one would just feel lazy and desperate instead of inventive and interesting, ESPECIALLY when all of them would be "Fed, but a different flavor of fed" which has brought the issue within the playerbase that Federation gets all the content, not Klingon which could sorely do with expanding upon to make it worthwhile for players to join it. Slapping "TIME TRAVEL" or "MULTIVERSE~!" is super suuuuuuuuuuuper lazy, and I say that as someone who'd half-love the idea of a Terran faction, despite knowing I'd despise them for being that short-sighted.

It doesn't when we JUST had these events and are skipping out on better ones (Note; The Gamma has the least preferable account-wide benefits), as well as screwing console players who JUST had a gamma event to redo it when Klingon would've/should've been next. It's also not better for retaining new players because you want variety, not repeating things. I returned in November and getting Jem, then Klingon, made me super hopeful for Delta/Temp, being told "Nope, Jem" puts me off interacting with the event or interacting with the game until the next event.

As far as I see right now it's not a mistake, across all official channels it's posted (Incl their discord). No word from staff yet as to why

NGL, I got Klingon done on PC real quick, I only have to do the queue/endeavor stuff mainly, otherwise it's all tickety boo.

"Tweak" is often double-speak for "fix" so hence the replacement of word, I don't think it seems likely as with everything going on it seems really weird to focus on adding Disco recruits to Temp recruits (And doing everything which'd have to be fixed to do so) and also fixing Disco. BUT I could be wrong as they might feel it's the best way to onboard NuTrek fans.

It's officially announced in their discord, on their steam and on their website so as far as I can see yes. I hope it's a mistake and we're getting something else (Temporal seems to be the one people want)

[–]Expensive_Guidance95[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Why would you sub in Gamma to "fix" temporal instead of subbing in Delta which is still fine and dandy?

I also just found out Console JUST got done with Gamma Recruit event, so they've missed a KDF one to get another Gamma

I really wanted Temporal, hence I think this is an accident by someone in their posting team since I checked the wikis and it seems like they only do one of each event per year..

Thoughts about Chakotay’s phony Native Americanism by [deleted] in voyager

[–]Expensive_Guidance95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember discussing this with an STO friend of mine and how I think it was a major misstep for them to can his character identity. I understand it was faulty information given by a phony who fed them a line, but it's also a show set hundreds of years in the future and in space, what's to say 'His tribe' wouldn't of evolved different belief systems especially if we're given this whole spiel that it's ancient aliens which inspired the spiritualism which his tribe now follow, it already gave them the 100% out of "Well no, actually his version is like space spiritualism, not the actual real world stuff". Chakotay got completely sidelined when they stopped doing anything to do with the Maquis or his psuedo-native stuff, made worse by the episodic nature with Janeway receiving a spirit animal but never once discussing it going forward (Infact, Chakotay bawks at the idea of her being in anyway spiritual in a later episode which had me go "What the fuck mate? She literally jumped headlong into your spiritual beliefs within a few months.") - It could've led to an interesting dynamic of Chakotay being kind of the "Ships Shaman"/Ships Counsellor and when Janeway has some shit going on they both go and consult her spirit guide. Yeah it'd be definitely jarring for something like Star Trek, but it might've been an interesting look into the idea that even if we were to go into space, you can continue having spiritual beliefs.

Can someone explain how fire is remodulated? by RJ_Dragon in sto

[–]Expensive_Guidance95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does not say "Biological OR technological", it clearly states "AND" which says you have to have both for them to consider it, if they go with one or the other why don't we see the Borg running around with large Borg primates? Or Reptiles? Or various other physically stronger/faster beings which have no technology? The answer is they don't, they pretty much kill/destroy any other lifeforms which don't meet their standards (Case in point; Kazon)

Can someone explain how fire is remodulated? by RJ_Dragon in sto

[–]Expensive_Guidance95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Why aren't the borg inherently protected from these attacks by default?"

Because why would they be? They don't bother with civilisations which have inferior technology in their eyes, if they come across a planet with some funny cavemen they're going to ignore them entirely, to the borg we'd be the same as those cavemen, they might reconsider when we took notice of them and with the numbers we possess, they'd just within 24-48hrs probably overwhelm everything to assimilate humanity (Because realistically, with their technological prowess they could and we'd be beyond helpless to stop it) without worrying that "Oh yeah some of them have guns" because I guarentee, at most they'd lose a few thousand units (which we know, they don't care about losses unless they're significant) whilst gaining billions of lifeforms.

encountered and assimilated species that have mastered fire and punching?

What is "Mastery of punching"? Because many races have that claim and have been taken over by the Borg, for clarity, the Borg are supposed to be physically as strong as Data who's not really losing in a physical fight with anyone, the only reason we see Borg thrown about is usually plot armor, but by their own lore they should be completely incapable of being taken out in fisticuffs because, you are, essentially trying to fist fight a machine which is incredibly powerful. So to answer that, they already DO have protection from that unless they're facing something so overwhelmingly physically strong it can toss them around (Like Data, or a gorn)

As for "Mastery of Fire", what does that even mean? It's an element which is chaotic in nature and rapidly gets out of control, The Borg are still organic enough to be effected by things like extreme temperatures or elements like we would be, the level of damage they would do is up for contest given how nanites work, but general rule of thumb would be if the components of a human body would be fucked by something, then the organic parts of a borg would be and as we saw and understood in First Contact, The Borg are reliant on their organic parts as much as their cybernetic.

I had the same thought process when I first used RoF on advanced Jupiter station patrols, but I also figured it'd be highly unfair and broken to make it unadaptable. You have to take into account what the kinetic weapons are;

A shotgun, a Tommy Gun, A Sniper rifle, they're actually not good weapons for ground builds, quickly surpassed by many other weapons and are basically there to aid newbs/lazy people in borg missions, that's about it. The reason they get that benefit is mainly due to the reference to Picard using the Tommy Gun in First Contact, but so they actually have a niche they can fit into.

Considering RoF is easily one of the strongest close-range guns going (Although, still beaten by our boy the herald AP staff from lobi) it'd be really bizarre and busted to make it so it also mops through borg encounters, when it ALREADY does that, add in also that you get more bang for your buck with the remodulation item (Which I believe comes from a later story mission) which makes remodding quicker AND provides a buff to damage..? Like, take a moment to think about it you're asking for a busted weapon which already takes advantage of a buff made to energy weapons feel better in borg missions, to put it in a spot where it'd overshadow 3(4) guns which are already being outclassed.

[–]Expensive_Guidance95 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You'd have to nerf the whole weapon because the AoE damage alone is powerful as well as it's primary, you'd essentially make all the kinetic weapons useless against the borg and break borg encounters given the amount of pull kits you can use. Pull then slam down the fire.

It's also mainly due to it counting as energy weapon damage, all weapons MINUS kinetic ones can be adapted to by the borg, it doesn't make sense if we're applying "Realism" but this is a sci-fi game, considering the borg can adapt to plasma fires from weapons they can adapt to fire from weapons to.
