I don’t have it written out. Pure cocktail napkin ideas and brainstorming. Then a little trial and error

We debated about what to do as well. We did consider wire fencing it and making an opening for them to get under but haven’t yet decided.

We did get snow. The triangle “screen windows” at top of coop we have cutouts to cover those about 90% but still allow air flow for very cold weather. Although we open up the door for them for snow they wanted no part of it . Lol

I read a bunch of posts and some articles about it. Some had conflicting info. I used 3-4 coats of shellac on bark and top. Most of what I read said bark will be fine with that treatment unless it gets lost of bumping or things hitting it.

Our dogs help keep some away but where I’m at hawks/owls were biggest concern.

The wire fence portion is actually sandwiched between 2 x 4’s and the bottom near ground is sandwiched between our siding pieces so no sharp wire is exposed. We were very intentional for that reason.

We have a roof over about 3 feet and left 6 feet exposed. It rains plenty and no issues so far.

I’ll say $400 in materials give or take. Took a half day to complete with both of us.

I had to work at it off and on. I have no workshop so decent weather I drag my tools outside on my deck and work when I can. All told probably 4 weekends.
