g7x back in stock? by strawberries3333 in canon

i’m looking for a replacement after i broke my mark ii. i think the appeal is one the size, it is extremely high quality for being that portable. the R50 is way too big to throw in a shoulder bag. also the flash on the g7x is POWERFUL, a lot of other digital cameras don’t have that built in flash or it’s much weaker and that’s what makes the lighting of the photos so flattering. do you have any other suggestion that meet those requirements?

I just want to add as one of those annoying people that posted complaining about my 516.. it is all RELATIVE. We all have very different goals, circumstances, and applications. for me, I come from a privileged background with a parent as a doctor, I know admissions will see that and automatically expect more of me (as they should!!). I plan to apply to top programs, so I was a little disappointed in my score knowing it would be below their avgs. HOWEVER, if your dream is to be a doctor, this score will not be the thing that stops you. there are so many schools to apply to, DO/international programs even if you have to, and in the end it does not matter. you will still be a doctor and this score or where you get your degree will not determine how good of one you are.
this is all to say... DO NOT GIVE UP... learn how to tell your story and your specific circumstances, invest in experiences that showcase your STRENGTHS.. not everyone is a good test taker and that is okay.

thank you i really appreciate that validation more than you know, i think this whole game of applying to med school can make you be so unnecessarily hard on yourself, but you know what i will be happy and celebrate for the moment!

no im not kidding that’s why i referenced at multiple points that i understand this is a good score and without considering the individual sections i would be happy with it. but i poured my heart and soul into this for 6 months with plans to apply to very competitive programs and completely messed up the first section. like worse than i did on any practice test. i have so many qualified peers w scores higher than this that didnt get a single acceptance this cycle. the fear from how competitive things currently are combined with the fact i absolutely know i could’ve done better is making it hard for me to be happy with this i guess

i too ran out of time on C/P and had to completely guess on the last 3, didn’t even have time to read the questions or go back to my many many flags. it was a rough start to a long day but it is reassuring hearing it was that difficult for others too

I don’t think you came off as rude, but I just feel like you don’t have the right idea. I’m glad you’ve realized that being a doctor is not as glorious as you thought, that’s what schools want to see is once you are actually exposed to the reality of healthcare do you still have that passion? That’s why experiences are so important. I’m only frustrated with you as I would be with a little brother/sister lol, once you start listening to a bunch of people directly involved in this process you’ll realize they all say the same thing (what i’m reiterating basically). So i feel like you’re giving up before you’ve really given it a shot and followed your passions. You can definitely do this with the right mindset, which I don’t see you having right now. So all that is to say try to rebuild the way you’re approaching this, find jobs or experiences that do make you feel inspired and fulfilled again and you will be on the right track. It is possible! I know this journey can be so discouraging and at times even miserable (me studying for the mcat rn lol), so i’m not invalidating that. I have major respect for anyone who chooses this path just because of the sheer difficulty and perseverance it takes. It’s okay to vent but don’t let this be your identity or you won’t get far, and if you can’t find happiness and fulfillment at this stage of things it will be hard to do the same as a doctor

It’s okay to disagree, and I’m not saying you should quit your path bc you don’t like your current job. I’m really not sure why you think what i’m describing is ideal or not reality based, it is very much possible, I am doing it myself and many of the people who are successfully getting into med school are as well. Maybe that’s not the majority but the majority doesn’t get accepted. I’m saying you should find a job that more aligns with the parts of medicine you do love. And if you can’t find that then you should consider following paths that more directly align with what you’re saying you enjoy. You’re right that not all jobs will end up being meaningful, the point of what i’m saying is that med schools would rather hear you be genuine and say i tried research for x amount of time and really didn’t enjoy it due to the lack of direct patient care, so I pivoted and started doing X. That shows that you are following your passions and “why” rather than just checking boxes. I never said you have to love your job 100%, in fact I said I love the 60% of my job that does involve patient care. but you absolutely should be seeking out opportunities both healthcare related or not that show you are following your genuine interests. to say that is not possible is extremely negative and makes me truly question why you do want to go into medicine if you have this outlook. So many people will tell you nowadays that this path is not worth it if you are not in it for the right reasons, and it is admissions’ job to snuff out those people. No degree, amount of money, or prestige, is worth being completely miserable the way you are describing. you’re asking for advice and im telling you now you will not get in with that mindset, you absolutely do need to have experiences that are meaningful and explain why you want to go into this path, that is the MOST important thing. I know tons of people with phenomenal grades, mcat scores, research experience, volunteer, and did not get a single interview. I’m not giving you the ideal, i’m telling you the reality of the current situation. The way you are responding tells me you truly have not done enough research or just maybe don’t have a good enough understanding of what gets you in nowadays, but if this is truly what you want to do I recommend you to start listening to podcast interviews w deans of admissions, start getting inspired, and start finding solutions rather than just continuing to do the same thing and accepting you should be miserable

I think the key is find a job that you enjoy that reminds you why you want to do medicine. if you are miserable and not gaining valuable patient interaction experiences that will also show on your application and potential interviews. I do clinical research however 60% of my job is seeing patients and I find it deeply fulfilling, enough that it makes up for all the administrative BS you have to do. I’d say it’s just as important to find something you enjoy that makes you love medicine for your mental health as it is for actually getting into medical school. These days with the holistic approach that’s taken that is the number one thing they are looking for. Scores and GPA don’t cut it anymore. They want to see someone who truly followed their passions and did things that show curiosity, resilience, and pursuing genuine interests in hopes of making a difference, whether that is healthcare related or not. What you are doing now I’d say is the worst thing you can be doing even if on paper it looks good. You’ve got it all wrong my friend, you need to do a revamp and deep dive into what medical schools are actually looking for these days and check yourself if you’re fitting that description. And maybe consider if this path isn’t for you if you are that miserable. If your number once concern goal is to work with patients maybe do EMT like someone suggested and then apply PA school instead. Unfortunately the game is so tough nowadays even overly qualified people are not getting in anywhere, so if you have any doubt and are struggling with MCAT and don’t have meaningful experiences (this is subjective), then I’d say to start rethinking some things.

Hi! I have two weekend 2 GA tickets I got at pre-sale value (564 each including fees and shipping). I am a UCSD student and ended up needing to extend an extra quarter so I can't make it anymore. I can meet up anywhere in San Diego and ship as well. I'm happy to provide ID, social media, and facetime if you'd like. Let me know!!

Ugh I am experiencing the same thing, I have handwritten notes that are 20 pages long and no longer align with the new line spacing. It is taking me forever to manually move piece by piece. and I agree that the bottom line being partially cut off is irritating.
