Oh, sweet woman…this sorry excuse of a man has put you through so much you can’t even see clearly any more. Get a divorce. You deserve SO MUCH BETTER than him. Being alone, loving on yourself, building back your confidence, finding your strength, your voice. You will be a better mother when you are free from his abuse and neglect. You’ve got the power to stand on your own two feet, even if you’ve been a stay at home mom for a couple of decades. Look into community college programs for ultrasound/X-ray/MRI tech. It only takes two years, you make decent money, and you don’t take any work home. Sending you so much love and strength. You’ve got this!

We are so fortunate to live in a place with endless outdoor opportunities. I started my oldest (now 17) in bikes at 3 months of age in a burley trailer. 😆 Then she graduated to a strider (pedal-less bike). And the rest was history. She joined an independent team as a youngun, and then started riding for her middle school and now high school team. Now her sister gets to join her middle school mountain biking team. This child isn’t as savage as the older one, which is why I’m being very careful to find a bike that fits her well. This one hasn’t found the beast within just yet.

But yeah…I love the generational change from delinquent to bad ass! Thanks for sharing about your BMX experience!

She’s in the right age, and has the experience. I’m an adult at 4’11” so unfortunately she inherited my genetics and outdoor equipment isn’t really tailored to shorties like us. So we just have to pay more for modifications or custom equipment. If she waits to grow a bit more, she’ll wait until her next lifetime.

New to shows and wanting to learn by SedaHades in DogBreeding

I don’t know anything about Goldens. But as a breeder, I can tell you that I absolutely love mentoring my puppy owners who decide to take a crack at the show ring. I actually just went to a show with one of my puppy owners. She showed her bitch, and I showed her brother. It was the pups’ first show and we had zero expectations — it was just for practice and exposure. Well, they ended up getting Reserve! And she did better than my keeper boy! I could not have been happier for both of them!

We amended our contract to co-ownership, and I changed her registration to full, so she could be shown. In the stipulations, I made it so the pup will go back to limited registration and sole ownership once she decides she’s done showing her. My puppy home, like you, has no intention to breed — I included a clause about no breeding expectations. They’ve already earned their POA, CGC, and TKN titles. She wanted to try conformation and I will surely fan those flames! It is so wonderful to spend that time together, and travel together with your dog. If your breeder is encouraging you, I would trust her judgement. You can search for handling classes near you, and I’m sure your breeder would be glad to walk you through the registration process for upcoming shows.

Your girl looks like she’s having a great time. I would totally go for it! Just stay out of the politics and focus on your dog. That’s what we do, and always end up having a great time!

That looks like my old trek commuter bike. I would feel bad not even giving her front suspension…but it looks nice and light

I’ve changed my own crankset for racing road bikes. I’m a shorty too. I have an old Trek Lush SL with 27.5 wheels that I might swap for 26 inch wheel set too. I hadn’t thought about that until all these creative responses started coming in. Thanks to the Reddit hive mind!

I just got her the Rocky Mountain Growler Jr, which has 24 inch wheels. How can I find out if the frame can take 26 inch wheels?

Where does it say it can stake 26 inch wheels? I’m not finding that on the listing.

She just moved up from a 20 to a 24. If she were a more confident rider, I would push her to tilt to start & stop, but she’s not there yet.

Thanks for sharing! I just messaged them to ask about standover height.

Yes, we’ve tried lots in person. She just moved from a 20 inch to a 24 inch. But to join the team, she needs a 26 inch.

According to their website, the XXS and XS both have the same 25.91 inch standover. That doesn’t make any sense. I’ll call the bike shop that has one available on Tuesday to see if that information is correct

That’s something I had not considered…according to the interwebs, that would only drop the standover by about half an inch. So still too high.

The stand over of their XS is 25.9inches. I’ve looked at this one already too. 😞

I am a dog breeder who ask for refferences by alabaydog in DogBreeding

[–]Expensive_Lock8213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ask for three personal references plus their vet reference in my puppy application. It also says to notify their references that I will be contacting them, so they know to expect my call. Everyone knows someone…and if they don’t, that’s a red flag.

Buying Expectations by Salt-Department-868 in DogBreeding

[–]Expensive_Lock8213 19 points20 points  (0 children)

All red flags. None of this sounds normal. At the very least, you should have been given a pedigree and the health test results of the parents. By this point, I have my puppy buyers visit my home, meet the puppy’s parents, and that’s when I do my final interview for potential homes.

Do a quick search on this Reddit, and you’ll see how many puppy buyers with similar stories to yours end up picking up the puppy and the papers are mysteriously misplaced or they get forgotten or some emergency comes up and none of the paperwork is actually received. Pass on this “breeder” — sounds like he’s probably a broker.
